"Lil Mo &
The Dynaflos were first formed during the freedom marches of 1963 in Huntsville
Alabama, when a bunch of light skinned liberal folk decided that tho' they could
not sing spirituals worth a lick, they could harmonize! After being jailed on
Parchment Farm for a period no longer then a year (but no shorter then one neither),
they first formed as "The Red Hat Gang", in honor of the nickname
the lifers doing hard time there have, and the prison blues that they taught
us. Coming from a diverse musical background, the "RHG" focused on
Salsa, Mexican death ballads, Polka, British Mod, and the tunes of Carole King,
in the South African tongue of Zulu (taught to Lil Mo by his adopted tribal
parents, The Ashante). Finding little draw for this mix, several of the original
members of the RHG left the group and fled to Columbia, only to be killed along
with Pablo Escobar. Nothing was heard of the surviving members until the late
1990's when Cliff Quan was cleared of all charges of being Janet Jacksons third
secret husband. Sick of the lime-light, Cliff contacted Lil Mo once more at
the West Hollywood corner where He worked most nights, got Him into rehab, and
singing again. Mo now has a week sober (more or less, by the grace of god and
the 12 steps), and Lil Mo & The Dynaflo's are ready for action packed gigs
all over this wide world of sports!
Give a listen, and send us a note! Pay us to show up somewhere! Not only are
We cheap, but We are accomplished mimes as well! As a side note, Lil Mo owns
the London Bridge and will sell it to the highest bidder, shipping included."
O.K., this story may be a wee bit exaggerated, but the facts are, Lil' Mo and The Dynaflo's consists of some of the finest musicians from the L.A. Rockabilly Scene, and along with some equally talented vocalists, are ready to carry on the tradition of the street corner crooners. Long live Doo Wop!
