FRANK RANIERI, from East NY, B'klyn, was an avid fan of the Jocko radio show. Frank sang with best buddy Vito Scaglione, an original member of The Four Pops, at John Adams High School, harmonizing in the neighborhood, at parties and dances. His group, "The Parisians," played at St. Fortunato's dances, and other church functions. In the mid 60's, Frank's group, "The Thorns," recorded on the Sceneville label. Frank's lead vocals are the smoothest and most unique to be found anywhere!
JOE CLEMENTS, grew up in Astoria (home of the "Devotions") and sang his way through Bryant High School in the early 60's. Joe's doo wop buddy at Bryant was Mike Cuomo, lead singer of the "Tribunes" today, and life-long friend. Joe sang at local dances and was a member of "The Mar-Keys" for 8 years. He is a teacher of harmony theory with a 30 year career singing doo wop tunes. Joe's dreamy baritone and lead defines "The Four Pops" sound!
NELSON "TINO" ALVAREZ, "The Four Pops" fantastic tenor, grew up in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. He began listening to doo-wop at a young age and has an extensive collection of the great groups recordings on 45's & 78's. Just to name a few of the groups Tino sang with: "Dino & The Heartspinners", "Norman Fox & the Rob Roys", "Brooklyn Connection", "The Larkings",and "Malo." He has arranged and backed up such legendary figures as Baby Washington, Chuck Carbo, Willie Winfield, George Grant, Cleo Perry. We could go on and on. There's none better than "TINO." The sweetest tenor this side of heaven!
CARLOS VAZQUEZ, the latest member of the Four Pops grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan where he sang with several groups. He joined the army in 1962 and sang acappella with a group he formed on the squad. They did many shows at different bases. After leaving the service he started a group called "The Consorts" and has been singing ever since. Carlos' exciting sound is always a sensation!
