Plush is the latest hot spot for West Loop. With sofas and chairs adorned in crushed red velvet, stainless steel high-backed bar stools, 6 giant screen TVs displaying sports games,visuals and music videos, Plush is, by all appearances, an industry and neighborhood friendly haven. One exclusive-looking table is slightly elevated, and those who arrive early enough can snag this premier locale without committing to bottle service.Owner Billy Kleronomos commissioned a local artist to create tabletops with a sparkly finish, as well as two freestanding paper-mache-type sculptures that lurk in the corners (Hint: One holds a basket of eggs inside its head). Plush's Mediterranean theme is evident in the red-and-gold coloring throughout. The interior design team also created the famously eclectic Marche, and Plush similarly boasts clever touches like a single rose in a vase on the walls.Given this ornate accessorizing, it's a pleasant surprise to discover the reasonably priced dishes. Though it's decked out in its nightclub finest, Plush actually hopes to evolve into a casual neighborhood eatery. Filet mignon tops off the menu, while most of the pizzas and sandwiches fall into a very friendly range. For starters, enjoy the crab cakes that come with generous offerings of Plush's signature mango and Creole sauces and are an excellent "Mediterraneanization" of an American classic. To really bring out its flavoring, try with the mangotini.Plush's best-known and most innovative dish is the apple ravioli which consists of semolina pasta stuffed with fresh Granny Smith apples toted from the Fulton Street farmer's market, topped with sun-dried tomatoes and grilled chicken and smothered in a creamy sauce.Martinis are abundant and fruity with generous alcohol proportions. You'll get proportionally more value, too, on Wednesdays, when they're just $5.
