About Me

I'm married, have a teenaged son, and am a High School Teacher in Michigan. I am also a HUGE Billy Idol fan! I had the wonderful opportunity last summer to meet up with him several times for autographs and photos, and just to give him a small gift, and a hug and peck on the cheek to tell him how much I have enjoyed his performances this summer, and meeting him.I teach High School Speech and Drama, and Coach Debate and Mock Trial Teams at my school. In my spare time, I sing in the shower...I know it is silly but the acoustics are great! I like to decorate cakes, phototype graduation cakes and wedding cakes. I also love to draw portraits in charcoal and pastel. One of my favorite hobbies is ventriloquism. I have been a ventriloquist since the age of 10 and can do it pretty well, but am a bit out of practice as I haven't done a show in about 3 yrs. At the present time I collect figures and puppets and comedy props, in hopes that some summer I may actually hit the road and perform at festivals or perhaps one day do some stand up at a club. I do enjoy writing my own comedy routines, and even won an autographed Peanut Doll from Jeff Dunham for a Halloween Script I wrote. Unfortunately, when I took the doll to school to show my Drama Students, I left the door unlocked at lunch, and someone stole Peanut! Guess, I was pretty much the dummy that day...My puppet friends below are: T. Kitty, a rappin' cat, whose favorite expression is, "Once you've had Cat, you NEVER go back!" You can call him Kitty, but never the "P" word! Moody D. Burd is a rather dyslexic hyper character, Blue is a dim-witted, but lovable character, Amy Little, plays the naive one, but she is really not, and Justin Time, a countryboy who likes to tell of the antics he often gets into with his redneck friends, Stinky McCallister, Junkyard and Rancid.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I am a pretty happy chick. I got to meet Billy Idol this summer, and get autographs with the entire band...all except drummer, Brian Tichy!! GRRR! Maybe next summer. Another favorite rocker that I would love to meet and get a picture with someday is Steven Tyler. I absolutely love his wild voice. If I had to pick a favorite actor, I would LOVE to meet Robin Williams. I think Robin is such a versatile and talented actor and a very intelligent guy. I admire him greatly.I would also just absolutely LOVE to meet Oprah Winfrey. She can do it all, act, and be a tv show talk host and own Harpo Productions...help others start their careers, and help those less fortunate. I think she is the epitomy of power, prestige and success and yet despite her success and wealth, she still maintains a very down-to-earth personnae. I admire her greatly for that.

Music:

I love many types of music...everything from Classical, Opera, Country, R&B, and Rock. I like to sing to it in the shower or while driving to work. I sing all the time.My favorite type of music is classic Punk, and Classic Rock. I also love many artists and bands from the 80's! I don't really care too much for hip-hop or the new Rap...I do like Old School Rap, though...in small doses. Some of my favorite artists are: Elvis, Beattles, Stones, Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Madonna, Prince, the Clash, the Who, The Ramones, Heart, Pat Benetar, Bob Seger, Green Day, Smashmouth, Blues Traveler, Sheryl Crow, Phil Collins, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Eagles and Don Henley, Huey Lewis and the News, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Bonnie Rait, Gretchen Wilson, Tchiakovski, Beethoven, the list goes on and on...I even like older stuff like Barbara Striesand, and even show tunes...I used to sing and act semi professionally when I was younger and was in such musicals as JC Superstar, Man of LaMancha, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, and even played Sandy in Grease. I miss performing and singing. There is no greater high in life than to be doing what you love on stage and getting applause for it.

Movies:

I love movies, Comedy and Drama, and often get sucked into the Lifetime Movie Vortex...Chick Flix are ok, but I absolutely LOVE psychological thrillers! No scary movies or hacker bloody ones, though...Horrible plots and I am not into blood. Things like Jason and Texas Chainsaw stuff creeps me out to the max!My favorite comedy is Forrest Gump! It has a bit of comedy and drama, and can make me laugh one minute and touch me to tears the next.I love anything with Tom Hanks or Robin Williams and I am really starting to appreciate the talents of Nathan Lane.I watch movies more for the plot and wonderful actors rather than just because I think an actor is hot-looking. I am not into the pretty boy syndrome...

Books:

I like to read non fiction every bit as much as fiction. There are too many to list, but some of my favorite books are:The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The Color Purple by Alice WalkerI think that JK Rowling's Harry Potter Series is phenomenal. I like Steven King, too...especially Misery....even the movie gave me the chills.I also love Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou And I adore her poetry...I also like the poetry of Langston Hughes.

Heroes:

My son is my biggest hero. He is so mature and intelligent for a 14 yr old teenaged boy, and he does his personal best in school. He also has a very big soft heart and loves his mama and papa.I miss my mother; she was my biggest inspiration growing up and taught me about arts and crafts and cake decorating. Unfortunately mom died at the young age of 58, of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I sang, "Wind Beneath my Wings" at her funeral. Mom never got to see what a fine young man her grandson has turned out to be...to see him perform on stage in band or in plays. She would have liked that as she loved gracing the stage in comedies, and musicals.Mom taught me the art of cake decorating when I was 12. I still dabble today. Here is a photo of the largest cake I have ever made. It was a cake for a ventriloquist convention in 2001, and it was made to feed over 500 people. I transported it in my van from Michigan to Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.

My Blog

Well, I am here....

I finally have a myspace. My husband bugged me and I finally caved in to it all. I will probably not write much in my blog, or keep up on it much, as I am terrible at that sort of thing, but thought I...
