About Me

Dan Adams has “spread a little of his heart from town to town,” leaving in his wake a stream of not just fans but friends. Through his songs, his performances, and his conversations with listeners, Adams has built a strong following of friends throughout the southeast. Dan Adams’ music can best be described as a country-rock-Americana blend. It’s unmistakably country, but with shades of Gregg Allman’s soulful vocal style over a gritty, guitar driven musical palate reminiscent of Steve Earle and Chris Knight.Adams’ ability to write songs that move audiences - leaving them with the sense of having glimpsed his soul and felt his heart - explains his long time success as a regional touring act. Renowned for story songs about real life situations experienced either personally or vicariously, Adams writes lyrics that strike a chord with listeners because of the parallels to their own lives. The unique texture of Adams’ voice coupled with his down-home, from-the-heart delivery leads the audience to truly believe every word.Adams first tasted the thrill of live shows at fifteen as a keyboard player/background singer, performing in the Columbus, GA area at clubs he wasn’t yet old enough to enter as a patron. His musical passion grew while in college at Georgia Southern University, playing guitar and singing in a band he formed, balancing studying with gigs. With a taste of Nashville gained from an internship at a major record label there, Adams graduated from GSU holding a degree in marketing and moved to Music City in 1996. Adding to his experience points by working at a Nashville radio station, he formed the band 1401 that same year. By the beginning of 1998, the band had progressed from a local Nashville band to a regional touring act - motivating Adams to quit his day job and tour full time - promoting their first album Late Night Diner. In 1999, after the rapid sales of the first album and a change in the line-up, Adams made the decision to move back to Columbus, GA - home for the other band members - in order to collaborate on the next album, Bittersweet Voyage. While based in Columbus, the band was nominated by fans and peers for three Columbus Entertainment Awards (called “Perky’s”) - including Favorite Band, Favorite Album, and Favorite Male Vocalist - which Adams won. In 2000, the 4-piece band became a 3-piece, and the name of the band changed from 1401 to Dan Adams Band. The next album, Shadows, reflected their new sound as an acoustic guitar-fronted trio, a sound that was well received and led to rapid record sales as they continued to tour.Adams toured full time for over 5 years – averaging 150 shows per year in a regular rotation of over 50 cities in 13 states across the southeast. With over 4000 copies of three albums sold from the stage and 4+ years experience on the road under his guitar strap, Adams entered fatherhood in 2002. Moving with his wife and new twin sons back to Nashville in 2003, he has immersed himself in the city’s songwriting and performing community with long time friend/co-writer/bassist Steve Bowers.
