In Greenville, North Carolina, me and my mom moved up to Virginia Beach, VA in 89' I stayed with my grandmom, Soon me and my mom got a 1 bedroom apt, out a neighborhood called Lisa Square, the hustle spot, (old road). My brother (Marcus Barrett) was born when I turned 6, we moved into a 2 bedroom apt, in the same neighborhood. Throughout my whole childhood I was around old heads and hustlers, so I was like the only, 8 year old with no curfew and hanging out with 21, and 22 year olds, my mom was 1 of them moms who knew I was gonna be alright. I started 6th grade at Lynnhaven Middle School at age 11, I met up with this other student "Myron Gattis" a.k.a. Prodigal Son, and he rhymed too, I always knew how to but I never really got into it like talk about, cause I was around hustlers more than anything. So that is what I was thinking of most of the time, but I and he started rhyming together, and I started writing more. Then, one day when I was 11, I was in a park in a neighborhood behind mine called Pipers Landing, one of my old heads was battling this new person around the way, and my old head was giving it to him, the new person didn't like it, cause the whole hood was chanting against him, so he pulled out a gun, he started shooting a couple of shots were fired and I was grazed in my left arm, everybody scattered. My friend "Eric Hammer" and his mom rushed me over to the hospital "Virginia Beach General" and my old heads came down there, we all knew my mom was gonna flip, so one of my old heads went out his way to throw some dollars at the doc to change the story. We told my mom that I fell down a slide, so the drama won't get out of hand, it healed after a month and a half, and I was still writing. At the time was going by the name "Killadist" and my partner was going by the name "Eclipse", he had this little stereo where we would put the CD of beats in and a blank tape with a mic, and press play on the CD, and record on the tape. We were bringing tapes to school and we were getting good credentials from it, so we kept at it. But after a while we both calmed down, but kept writing, one day I was in a flea market, me and one of my friends had came across a studio, I had recorded a little freestyle and it felt good to actually get in a official studio and record. So I keep at it, I grabbed a phone book one day and started searching for studios and shopping for prices, I was 17 at this time. I came across a studio called "Music Box" ran by "The Streetfellas" and I recorded a track in there it was my 1st single called "Watchout". I was in high school so I shouted out high schools in my area, then I played it around school and everybody was feeling it.After that I made it a habit to go up to Music Box when I got out of school cause it was only $25 an hr, the people were artists "known local artist" too. I was always in the street so they was like they going to call me STREET CHILD that's where my name came from. After a while we moved out in Kings Arms, then I got up with Eclipse, cause I transferred to Cox High from Green Run High, but he changed his name to Prodigal Son we started going up to Music Box together all the time to record, and after a while I dropped a mixtape called "At Last" on Dec 24, 03',we pitched that and the hood was giving me a good response off that, but I fell victim to the hype and just fell back, it was like I got a mixtape out, now I can chill, and when it came back time to get in the studio a lot of studios were closed down. So that put me on pause for a good little while, but I kept writing, and in my mind I kept going over the pieces of paper in front of me. I felt that I was getting better, and in DEC. of 04' I and Prodigal went up to Music Box, they got a new location and we found it, the price went up, but we didn't care we was just ready to get back at it, one day while we was spitting people just kept walking in and they was just listening, they was like "Yo they spit hot", then they the Music Box closed back down. However, one of my friends put me on the this other guy named "Young Sean" and I had started recording there for a little bit, but then he sold it to a guy named June, he was getting us in there for $30 a hr, so we was doing our thing in there, but as time went on, I couldnt get in touch with him as much. So I had to get my paper up and my connects up, what I ended up doing is buying my own studio equipment and setting it up in my room, then I was always able to record cause I had the recording software provided by another local artist named Konflict. I started my own Indie label AVIATION RECORDS (cause I don't want to rap forever that's why I produce too). I started recording and making original tracks and doing shows, I was also working on my mixtape Street Novacane Part 1., I rushed through that and got that finished, and DJ Babe (Detroits number 1 DJ) mixed it for me free of charge I have much respect to him forever for that, now my mixtape Street Novacane Part. 1 and 2 is in mixtape spots now, it can be downloaded at www.mixtapecompound.com and my album comes out in MAY 08' titled "QUOTE THE RAVEN" Scream at me [email protected] or (757) 737-0109 or (757) 718-844-3382 Virginias Brother STREET CHILD The Hustler.WOBBLE ITA COUPLE OF BLOCKS FT.
