About Me
A staple of the Silverlake music scene, Tigers Can Bite You are redefining the parameters of indie rock. Featuring former members of Fiver and Space Mtn, the trio (and sometimes quartet) capture the essence of Death Cab-ish indie rock, while setting themselves apart with electronics that have more in common with Ladytron and M83. The results are dynamic - Tigers don't alienate their audience, but they are also not afraid to go outside the standard indie pop formula. The electronics are subtle, yet boast a strong presence, turning every track into a mini-epic. With song lengths barely over three minutes, tracks can end before they've finished building up, leaving you wanting more. In 2008, the band signed with New and Used Records, who will release the EP Taking and Running Away on September 30, and a full length entitled Steve Ward Hears Voices on October 30.
Playing venues from the Troubadour to Pehrspace, Tigers Can Bite You have shared the stage with Silversun Pickups, Irving, Sea Wolf, Earlimart, The Movies, the Airborne Toxic Event, Radar Bros, Division Day, the Happy Hollows, Rademacher, and the Watson Twins.
And some other people said these things...
Dave Woody started Fiver around the same time Death Cab for Cutie and Granddaddy were getting off the ground. While those bands saw some success over time, Fiver missed out. Woody is back with a like-minded band, Tigers Can Bite You, and fans of DCFC and Granddaddy should pay heed and give TCBY's spacey pop sound a listen. This was my favorite random discovery of the year (thanks to Alex of Sea Wolf for introducing me to their music).

Tigers Can Bite You are so good, they sometimes stop time. -Radio Free Silverlake
Another growing LA band I have been getting into a lot lately are Tigers Can Bite You. I wandered into an in-store performance they did at Sea Level Records...and was smitten. Rough Stuff is just that - a rough track but shows a great deal of promise in its blissful repetitive drone. -Rock Insider
