BUY CD HERE! With the coming of a new drummer, QUETZAL decided to change their name into IN-KATA and write new songs. For the recording of Farewell Masquerade they were invited by Tom Pintens to his home studio. Pintens, who previously worked for bands like Zita Swoon and Think of One recorded and produced the entire project. Farewell Masquerade is more than merely a sequel to three unruly quetzal releases (The messenger lies bleeding, Touch/Retouch and Dead end Tracks on Conspiracy Records). Its a highly confounding and compelling album, a nonlinear story of profound distrust and disbelief. With Farewell Masquerade In-kata pushes the envelope one step further and enters a new stage in their stubborn approach to guitar music. Instead of reproducing conventional musical sounds and structures, IN-KATA prefers to search for boundaries & possibilities in subtly detailed arrangements. On Farewell Masquerade IN-KATA build dynamic soundscapes that are melancholy yet triumphant, the vocals attack and the instruments explode! This band's densely textured sound is at least as passionate as their predecessor albums under the Quetzal moniker.
As Quetzal, they toured Europe several times and shared stages with At The Drive In, Cave In, No Means No, Kepone, Alice Donut and many more
