About Me

The Dump Brothers head off in Antwerp in August 2006. Founding Fathers Olly (vox/harp/gits/tapdance) and Fin the lonesmoe Fin (from Finland) (gits) were busking together for years. Oly used to play, among others, in dEUS, A Beatband and Tumbleweed. The other brothers Erno, Kristof and Jan bumped into eachother on the same day and that very eve played some shows on the streets and in the bars of the town.Washboardplayer/drummer Erno before was making a living playing the streets with a boogiewoogiepianist and was drummin' in a noisetrio with Kristof called It Said . The latter has a past in various hardcore-, reggae-, blues- and experimental outfits and was just picking up the double bass. Jan the banjoplayer has got some experience as guitarplayer/street musician in Brussels. Shortwhile after French girl Mathilde Balduzzi joined the band on percussion.Due to the eclectic background and the acoustic set-up they develop a style existing out of elements such as countryblues, rockabilly, skiffle, 40's swing and cajun on the one hand, tapdance, slapstick and vaudeville on the other. They restrain themselves to an intense working rhythm, play the streets of Antwerp every day en record a first demo after less than a month. A completely self-organised tour follows, taking them to the likes of Luxemburg, Germany, Italy and France (where they play a.o. support act for the Danish garagepunks Powersolo). Well-oiled and greased-up they continue in the same way but sister Mathilde decides to take a step back and Saar Suffys, on saxophone, clarinette and lead vocals player joines in short time after, providing a more subtile touch as a counterweight to all the testosterone.A second demo is recorded around New Year 2007 with guestviolinist/part-time Dump Bro Boris W. Visser. After these recordings Fin takes some time-out. In March they win an edition of the Demopoll, organised by Studio Brussel, one of Belgiums national radio channels. Also they are welcomed guests on varoius radio stations (Freiburg College Radio, Radio Centraal Antwerp, Urgent). In May they feature on the Microob-fest in PetrolClub and that very night perform in Scheld'Apen, in July they feature as a support act for John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. In August 2007 they tour for the second time, playing Freiburg, Schwarzwald and Zurich. In Winterthur they play for a crowd of maddog swiss football Tifosi. In november they will be playing on Roots Night, Hof Ter LooRattle your bones
