About Me

Ashley Scott is a jack of all trades when it comes to the Music and Entertainment Industry. Ashley is a vocalist, songwriter, performer, journalist, promoter, and promotions person. Ashley found his love of music through his parents record collection as well as his though his aunt Helen Scott of The Three Degrees. Ashley got his start in the industry during his college years at Howard University where he majored in music. Ashley honed and learned the business side of music taking courses at Howard and working at the Robin Hood Dell East in Philadelphia where he remains the venue’s Promotions Coordinator. Through the Dell East, Ashley has done Promotions and Publicity for concerts featuring a who’s who of music including Patti Labelle, Teena Marie, The Isley Brothers, The Whispers, The O’Jays, and countless other R&B and hip-hop stars that have graced the Dell East stage. During his college years he has also worked on street teams for clubs in the DC area like Republic Gardens and he has also interned at Radio One Inc. at Washington D.C.’s #1 R&B station Majic 102.3 in the Promotions Department. After college Ashley formed his own Entertainment Company called Philash Entertainment Group which produces events, coordinates programs, and works with various artists. Philash Entertainment has produced a few events in the Philadelphia area at Beyond Nightclub and Denim Nightclub and has worked with the Family of the Dell East to facilitate its DEMBI (Dell East Music Business Institute) Program. Ashley has also worked as a talent coordinator with I.A.A.A.M-The International Association of African American Music for its Emerging Artists Showcase with one of his mentors and I.A.A.A.M President Dyana Williams. In 2003 Ashley tapped into his journalism side and became a staff writer for Maximum Watts online magazine out of Washington D.C. where he has written features on Ralph Tresvant of New Edition, Christopher Williams, The Sound Of Philadelphia., and Marvin Gaye. In 2005, Ashley became Vice President and President of the Philadelphia Chapter for The Artists United and with them has produced stages at various community festivals in Philadelphia. In 2007, Philash Entertainment Group partnered with the Artists United to produce the sold-out show “Tribute to A Sophisticated Lady” which featured female vocalists from Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C singing the music of the late Phyllis Hyman. He also serves as the Entertainment Coordinator for Real Men Cook, an annual event held on Father’s Day. In November of 2007 he produced 2 music events in a 2 day span, one being a musical tribute to Phyllis Hyman featuring the legendary Jean Carne in which Ashley promoted, produced, and performed on as well as the 2nd Annual Unsung Heroes Awards Ceremony with the Black Entertainment & Music Association (BEMA) who honored Jean Carne and The Three Degrees. On the creative side Ashley is currently in the process of recording songs for his 1st CD project and is a singer with a band called Rio under the Eddie Bruce Entertainment company which does weddings, corporate events, and barmitzphas. Ashley has lent his vocals to local Philadelphia artists such as Lady Alma and Chavous (which he recorded 5 tracks on her debut CD “Without Limit” and he has shared the stage or opened for artists like Jean Carne, Bilal, Take 6, and Vivian Green. He is a member of ASCAP as both a writer and publisher with his publishing company Philash Music Publishing.
