Groove Stu

Bringing back the art of live music

About Me

Combining R & B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Jazz/Funk and old style soul in heretofore unheard of combinations, Baltimore's GROOVE STU are the versatile architects of "Urban Soul Movement." Not content to construct songs on the foundation of one genre, GROOVE STU sews a million threads of rhythmic interconnectivity with ethereal hooks that still seem to cook the sidewalks with passion and distinctiveness. While hip-hop energy percolates through the seams of each track, GROOVE STU's expert instrumentalists ground each song with a bed of funk worn musicality. Groove Stu has been exposing audiences to their musical flavor throughout the East Coast. Like Tribeca Blues, Soul Cafe & Le Bar Bat in New York, Black Lily Showcase & Zanzabar Blue in Philly, the National Black Arts Festival and the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Baltimore's Artscape & the African American Heritage Festival. Samples of their musical expertise has also been tasted at venues in and around the Washington, DC area such as the Cada Vez, Takoma Station, Andalu, Club 5, State of the Union, F. Street Lounge, Bohager's, the 930 Club and Fletcher's. They've also performed at the Ray Lewis Foundation (Baltimore Ravens) charity event benefiting underprivileged children. Not to mention opening for Grammy award winner Stephanie Mills, Jeffrey Osborne, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Roy Ayers, Dougie Fresh & Dru Hill. The versatility and individual styling of its members make for smooth and fluent interpretations of many musical styles. Lead vocalist Tiffany Gilliam-Countess, who's voice is a cross between Chaka Khan & Jill Scott, has work with Jive recording artist JOE. Other members include, Bass guitarist/Producer Myron "Big Huss" Missouri , Guitarist Jeffrey L was a member of the Legendary Maze Band featuring Frankie Beverly. Keyboardist/vocalist Omar Sharif is a talented songwriter/producer, who gave GS upcoming debut album "Authentic 4.10 Sessions" more of a Prince or Maxwell vibe. Jerrod Simpson of PX (Blankman) brings the hip-hop ingredient to the Stu and is working on his upcoming solo rap release on Street Legal Entertainment. Add Producer, Drummer extrodinare Rob Levine, trombonist Nick B., background vocalists Jerrita Davis and Keyboardist/Producer Ramel "Ramello" Nicholson to the mixture for the perfect blend of rhythmic seasoning and melodic coloring. Add all these ingredients to your event, wedding, or favorite concert venue stir and bring to a boil for about an hour and you will have one incredible soul groove experience. Come and enjoy the spicy musical brew of Groove Stu as they take you on a musical journey like no other! For bookings call: Demitri McDaniel, G.L.
