My name is Diana. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, Silverlake area. I am 34 years young, presently working in Nigeria, WEST AFRICA doing GOD'S work. I recently joined one of my best friends, Modupe in WEST AFRICA who founded the BEARS FOUNDATION. The BEARS FOUNDATION is a non government organization that uses free surgeries to restore the lives of underprivileged African men, women, and children suffering from both congenital and developmental deformities such as maxillofacial, cleft lip and palate repairs, fire and acid burns, vesical vaginal fistula repairs (VVF), and general corrective surgeries. Part of our activities is to inspect local hospitals and clinics, identify what they lack and donate the items to them. We do child immunizations, HIV/AIDS education, donate clothes, toys, books, and food. During our missions, we invite local medical doctors and nurses to participate enabling them to acquire additional skills from our volunteering medical professionals from the U.S. They exchange knowledge, information and make new contacts that empowers them in performing their duties. We go to rural communities and aid them in building medical facilities in villages where basic medical infrastructure is non-existent.We are BLESSED to have a small but wonderful group of nurses and doctors who volunteer their time for surgeries. Our funds go towards medical supplies,medication, travel, and accommodations for our wonderful volunteers. I am blessed and my life has never been better. I miss Los Angeles, mom, family,friends and most of all my Rahmi.Organizing free medical programs comes with great financial responsibility that can be very difficult to meet at times. We are presently fund-raising for a medical mobile units that will include 3 surgery rooms and all the necessary equipment. The units will enable us to reach those in the most rural villages and by pass paying local hospitals to use their facilities which usually not equiped with the basics for surgeries. We need all the help we can get.We welcome partners and sponsors that will share our vision and assist us with both monetary and non-monetary sponsorship donations. None of our missions would be possible without GOD, and surgeons willing to volunteer their skills.
