About Me
PORNO was established, during a pilgrimage to New York City in early 1994. After releasing the first DEMO "NO GOD YOUR GOD" in June of that same year, the potential of Porno's authenticy was realized .The band forged forth into the regional club scene opening for some of the best in the Canadian underground. Bands such as Brutal Truth, Testament, CRYPTOPSY, MALHAVOC, Blood of Christ, THE FORGOTTEN REBELS and S.F.H gave PORNO a taste of the life we're leading into.1995 proved to be the year of all trials. After receiving a call from a local music engineering student with a few unscheduled hours, Porno created the beginnings of "GIVE ME A PISTOL" , demo number 2 in the faculty studio. This Demo would not be released for almost a year due to freak line up changes and a lack of faith. We also waited for the recording of "Fate" and "The Machine" of which, we felt needed to be included, completing what we desperately had to say. Again Porno, would use the many versatile talents of the" NO GOD YOUR GOD" Engineer and Producer Keith Ruck to finish off. (Porno recorded all tracks with Keith at: Audiollusions Studio's in London Canada. !!Keith you fuckin Rock!!!eh!) During the course of the year the band diminished down to the founding members: Sandy and Corey. We used the drum tracks from both Demos mixed down to tape to open the night for Malhavoc. We then rented a DAT player (Vinny) for a short summer tour in northern Ontario. (the car was roomy for that one). From there growing into an illustrious 7 piece, captivating an all metal crowd at the Death Fest in Toronto's Opera House. So as you can well see we are versed in adaptation and versatility.
1996 is the year we met ED BALOG (BLACKMARK) and will be eternally grateful for his undying contributions to the Canadian Scene. Porno bought in on the Utopian Visions Compilation CD " SONIC OBLITERATION", put out by ED in late 95. This was a double CD featuring bands from all over the world. It fared well and ED decided to release the most requested tracks from the two, condense them all to one CD and re-release it everywhere but Canada and the U.S in 1997
S ince that time Porno has received some much needed morale boosting fan mail from across the globe. Although we do receive some letters addressed to PORNO, it is a wise idea to address your letters to our alias M.N.W.D.C. We live in a very conformist country, (athough complaints are a matter of opinion, on singeth the heavy hammer of prejudice. Sometimes people can be bias. So if you want it to get through to us, don't put " Porno" on the envelope. THANKS.
PORNO is currently touching up ideas and sifting through the debris to complete writings for our first CD release. The band is also working hard on merchandise and products, along with a web site and if all goes as planned CD-ROM interface for the CD. It will feature guttwisting, palpitative metal from some local boys in our area. New ideas for live performance are also a key goal. The addition of modern dance routines, presence and total dominance are the prime directives in the pursuit of our perfect show. We are currently dismembered..Although we all keep in touch ..there are no current writings .... An arrangement for a reawakenning yearly may be a interseting idea for a solid show!
