MICHAEL OIEN; Bassist, Composer, Mike Oien was born in Silverspring Maryland and grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin. After studying for two years at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis he moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of music on scholarship. In 2004 he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Professional Music. He has worked professionally with such artists as trombonist Hal Crook, guitarist Mick Goodrick, drummer Bob Moses, and Grammy Award winning vibraphonist Dave Samuels and has performed in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Costa Rica and Japan. He has played on a number of recordings including "A Young Mind" with Michel Reis and Dennis Frehse which is available throughout Europe, and Yotam Rosenbaum's "Balance" featuring Dave Samuels, Vadim Nesolovskyi, and Mads Tolling, available at CD BABY. Mike Oien currently lives in New York City where he is active as a performer, recording artist, and educator..
