About Me

I'll tell you that, contrary to what people usually think, experience is not a form of wisdom, it implies no accumulation of knowledge, and it is not even a good counselor. It isn't wise, or strengthening, or prudent; it isn't even farsighted. Believe me, my friend, experience is only a form of nostalgia. Nostalgia for a past in which time was something that still had not begun to run out and that we suddenly remember because someone around us also feels that way, and we recognize ourselves in that person amazed at the passage of time.
- Ana Maria Moix
What prevents us from discharging the duty of absolute individual freedom is ignorance; for we are so ignorant that we love our ignorance and hate knowledge unless it comes in a way consistent with our whim.
- Mahmoud Mohamed Taha
There have been occasions when statesmen have come close to implying that there might be something rather noble about sudden, massive and very high-temperature extinction. On other occasions, they have seemed to sense that this program might not be popular with the average voter.
- John Kenneth Galbraith
