MIXING sweet melodies, classic songwriting sensibilities and a truly distinctive voice, Lou Whatling is armed and ready to take over your subconscious.
Lou was born and raised in quiet little Norfolk town, drawn to music at an early age she began to play the classical guitar at the tender age of ten and continued with brass at 14, playing and performing trombone with Fakenham Town Band.
Developing a dextrose, fluid style of finger-picking that incorporates elements of folk, classical, jazz and blues, it wasn't long before Lou began writing her own material.
Minds Like Parachutes showcased a collection of infectious, gritty, melodic songs, with tales of suburban boredom and big city decay, that would become the foundation for her writing style.
Feeling confined by what Norfolk had to offer, Lou made the move to Manchester in 2004 to learn more and develop her song writing further. Armed only with an acoustic guitar, note pad and an open mind, ready to absorb the sights and sounds of the city and it's burgeoning singer/songwriter scene that has spawned the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Stephen Fretwell and more recently Jim Noir and Liam Frost. Lou has become a regular face around the folk clubs and acoustic showcases around the town, charming audiences where ever she goes and receiving regular airplay from local radio stations.
Now with a band behind her, a collection of soon to be classic songs and her distinctive bluesy howl, its only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches up and takes notice.
