Every once in a while there lies an undiscovered artist that brings something new, exciting, dynamic, and trendsetting to the ever changing music industry; an artist that goes against the grain and becomes a leader. Well let me introduce you to John “Mr. Forbe$†Forbes, an 18 year old sensation who is an incredible rapper as well as performer. He has already been crowned with the title as “The Future of Rap.†With his smooth, raw, and forward delivery, it is easy to see he has this game under wraps. From his undeniable “swagger†to the honesty and confidence felt in his lyrics, you know when Mr. Forbes is in the building.
At the age of eight, he began to get acquainted with rap and did not discover his talent until the age twelve. At the age of eight, he would just rap around the house, having a strong vocabulary, but only increasing as he began to pick up more and more books. By the age of twelve, he began to become well-aware of his talents and started becoming lyrically acquainted. Mr. Forbes began putting his thoughts onto paper. While growing up in the majority care of his single mother and two younger siblings, he used rapping as an outlet for him. With the discretion of a full-time working single mother of three, he knew he had to make it someway somehow for himself, siblings, and mother. The time he spent with his father, meant most to him as a young child. With his father, he got to do what he loved most, listen to music (classic rap)-even ones with curse words; which his mother did not allow. His father introduced him to all kinds of music, some artists that stand out most were Heavy D, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, and A Tribe Called Quest, as well as R & B artists such as Keith Sweat. With all of these influences surrounding him, Mr. Forbes knew that music was his passion and to live out his passion, rapping is what he had to do.
By the time his Senior Year in High School arrived, things became steadily rocky, with Mr. Forbes facing many obstacles and overcoming several trials and tribulations, facing jail time. With all of these obstacles being placed in his way, he still continued to do what he loved to do which is rapping and performing. With many people doubting his second guessing his decision to rap for a living, he saw it as a way for him to grind harder and strive for nothing less than success. He turned all the negative energy into positive energy by writing in his head constantly, every day. The only thing that Mr. Forbes has ever asked for from people is to listen to his lyrics and hear what he has to say. He describes himself as “versatile†and professes that “he can rap to anything, even a telephone ringing.†He convincingly claims that his lyrics can relate to almost anyone and anyone can vibe to it once they feel where he's came from, what he's been through, and what he's planning on doing in the rap world. Mr. Forbes, plans on being the next voice for Maryland, claiming that “there are no mainstream rappers coming from Maryland and Maryland isn't really on the map with an artist that stays around.â€
As of today, Mr. Forbes has opened up for numerous of well-known music artist as well as been highlighted in several publications. He has opened up for artist such as Bow Wow, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, T.I, Soulja Boy, and Fall Out Boy just to name a few. He has also headlined local clubs, parties, homecoming dances and proms. While promoting himself, Mr. Forbes became a big hit on the popular website Myspace.com where he receives over 1000 hits on his page a day and he has also been featured/spotlighted on a list of websites such as Discoverstars.com, Unsigned.com, ArtistPr.com, and Imnotsigned.com just to name a few. At this point he really knew that he could hang with the best of them. Mr. Forbes now at 18 has accomplished a lot and is now ready to take his career to the next level. He has great talent, a strong mind, and most importantly love for the business which allows him to successfully thrive in this industry. Mr. Forbes….The Next big thing…..You’ll see why.
