Cloudride

Cloudride is a young rock band from Basel. A band with its own identity but also a group with an undeniable affection for the British music scene. A music of contrast, of great melodies, grinding and screaming guitars, vast sound landscapes and brachial outbursts of anger. Cloudride love to play with this contrast; they feel equally at home bringing their guitars to explode after a sensuous interlude or combining deceptively beautiful melodies with bitter sweet lyrics.These contrasts can be particularly well appreciated live. The singer is able to focus the energy of the whole band in an exceptional way and then project it to an audience; his performance and indeed charisma leave a lasting impression. As Basel's biggest newspaper BaZ pointed it after a show: "The more the lead singer Axel changed from chest voice to head voice, the heavier and more intoxicating the sound became. As if we all were stylefully drowning in a sea of sound. Their gentle tones were like pearls, their powerful dynamism completely captivating. Its enough to make the sun want to rise again." (Jana Kouril, BaZ, 07.06.2004)Their first album Overlooked (Helium/RecRec) which they recorded together with the Australian producer Darren Hayne focuses mainly on the dark abysses of singer Axel Rusts soul: it deals with loneliness, fear, anger and the search for answers to the questions of life. "I must have overlooked something" he sings resignedly in the title song. A feeling of having missed out on something in this life and that of being misunderstood are central to Overlooked.In spring 2007 Cloudride toured through Europe for the first time as a supporting act to Manchester based band Amplifier. They are currently working on new songs for their next album.
