Billy Hawn is a freelance drummer/percussionist based in Los Angeles, CA. Before relocating to Los Angeles in 2001, Billy lived in Minneapolis, MN where he recorded, performed, and toured with various artists, honing his skills to become one of the most sought after multi-percussionists in the Midwestern United States today.Billy has shared the stage with artists such as: The Indigo Girls, Jackson Browne, Damien Rice, Charlotte Martin, Glen Phillips, Colbie Caillat, Tristan Prettyman, Jason Reeves, Kendall Payne, Steve Poltz, Brett Dennen, David Crosby, Dana Carvey, Beth Hart, Garrison Starr as well as many others. When not on tour, Billy keeps himself busy with various gigs and studio sessions with some of the best musicians in the Los Angeles area.Billy developed his love for percussion and drumming in his early teen years when he was introduced to the world of marching percussion. It was this overwhelming love that eventually compelled him to audition and become a member of the world renowned Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps, where he was under the direction of Mr. Jeff Moore and Mr. Chris Thompson. During this same time, Billy began his studies of hand and concert percussion with Dr. Terry Vermillion.In 1993, Billy began teaching high school marching percussion where he remained for five and a half years, teaching, inspiring, and encouraging countless high school students throughout the Midwest. During this time, Billy diligently built his own personal percussive reputation both live and in the studio.He is known among his peers in the music business for his unique fusion of kit, hand drums, and percussion. Billy's tremendous passion for adding just the right amount of percussive "spice" to any style of music, whether on stage or in the studio, continues to be his defining trait.
