I'd like to meet:
who's left on the list? myself when i'm sussed out, peter gabriel would be cool, brian eno would make me nervous and i'd like to work for ira glass.
Music:
i've listened to a handful of bands my whole life. they've stayed vital. i feel i chose well. pet shop boys, depeche mode, peter gabriel, brian eno, abba and eurythmics. i've no guilty pleasures when it comes to music. recent finds include: iron & wine and the decemberists. some of my best friends make the best music i've ever heard: larissa dalle, peter morrow and the sweet voice of elizabeth dill.
Movies:
i have become obsessed with directors. i look for patterns in their work and enjoy following these patterns from film to film. stanley kubrick, david fincher, francis ford coppola, sofia coppola and george lucas. recently, i've been following the work of editor walter murch. he might be a new hero of mine.movies i can watch over and over again and visit like old friends: lost in translation, about a boy, solaris, 2001, thx1138 and blade runner (only with sushi and noodles) and dune. they are all films about isolation, relations from a distance and what it means to be human awake and alive.
Television:
i do not have proper broadcast television of any kind. but i have enjoyed arrested development, house and the bbc version of the office on dvd.
Books:
i have unfortunately read entirely too many books in the last year that lack plot, characters or development of any kind (apple application manuals) but i have managed to finish shop girl three times, dune twice, and three books by david sedaris. i also loved sarah vowell's partly clouldy patriot and assasination vacation.
Heroes:
the cheerleader.
