I started when i was about 14/15, my mate Kris (DJ WARDEN) got me into mixing house at his flat in Rowner, Gosport. From what i learnt there, both skills and the love of it i went on to do many a house party in Rowner and Gosport. For a short time there were not many house parties i wasnt DJing at. That was way back then and still now i continue with these parties, you cant beat a party where everyone knows everyone.
Durin this time i was about 15 years old and i bought my first set of CD-Dex. I started DJing out commercially to get some extra cash for vinyl dex and vinyl. I got a residency at Gosport Ice Rink every Friday and Sunday, which i still have! Something about the fact that they arent there to dance so you can pretty much get away with playing whatever you want! I started getting gigs in clubs and bars and have so far played at most clubs in portsmouth/gosport/fareham.
I built a mobile rig up and took my DJing on the road when i was still at school i had a residency and mobile gigs pullling in about £10,000 a year! i would learn more from these gigs about DJing than any underground night will ever teach me! I continued these to the present day, building my rig, i have played out well over 100 times in 5 years. I became the resident DJ for SNAP discos in fareham last year and play to a sold out crowd of 800 every month, they love it! haha! I also have other residencies here and there....
When i turned 17 my mate Adam (DJ WRIXON) got me into Drum and Bass, we went to Breakneck back in the day and still do, it was the start of a love for the scene. I got my first technics 1210s when i went to uni - there goes the student loan!! haha! All my vinyl was drum and bass and i continued to grow both in skill and proffesionalism.
I played a few gigs local for DnB but decided i had been stuck in my bedroom for long enough so i put on Gosports first Drum and Bass night "RINSED" that is still going today! I hosted local names and got enough people for the manager to give me a friday night, where we now hold Rinsed events with headlining names. About a year into promoting i started other projects, i called Ben Wilcox to come into partnership about a deal i had been offered in Fareham. That gave birth to "BATTLE ARENA" which is hardcore vs drum and bass on 2 floors. We had locals down to play and now a year on we have Headliners here too. My latest venture is known as "uRBn" run along side MISTAJAKE (DJ SKALECTOR). uRBn is a night for ALL urbn music in every aspect be it LIVE / DJ / MC / Singer / Turntablism / beatboxing or whatever!! After launching to a near sell out crowd we have UK Hip-Hop guru's RODNEY P and DJ SKITZ (1XTRA) now as a residency every month. We are also now proudly hosting MR TI2BS' album launch!!
In all i've helped put on events with many different promotors and people, ive got about 30 DJs and MCs out of their bedrooms for the first time and have sparked an underground scene in the area of Gosport and Fareham. I sincerly hope that people will keep it growing after i stop in years to come.
I MC too but my hearts in DJing, i got a few gigs alongside DJ JULI-C and went from there, really though ill MC if there is no-one else or if they cant do it! I still write lyrix and that but it's not the same for me as DJing. I also make my own tunes and remix other peoples, mainly drum and bass.

DJ WARDEN / DJ ENZO / DJ WRIXON / DJ eS-K / DJ TINITUS / DJ ZORK / DJ PABBA / DJ SKITZ / DJ VOLLEY / DJ SNARE DEVIL / DJ BRAIN SURGEON / DJ BUTCHA / A SHADE OF GREY (Hip Hop group) / MC REN DOLLER / MC ASBO / MC DONAPOSTLE / MC MINDKILLER / MC CASHINO / MC ILL / MC NU / MC OB
Influences: Wow, where to start!??! I firstly wana show massive respect to some of the industry people i've met. Top of the list is RODNEY P. The man is the soundest person you will meet and looking back at his career he has dabbled at most styles of music and helped bring so many new up and comings up through the haze of the lower end of the scene. No forgetting DJ SKITZ too for dropping Drum and Bass at a hip-hop night, both of you are jungle heads too and i love that you can spread a little DnB in places and not only get away with it but turn a few peoples heads at the same time.
Massive respect to so so many in the DnB world, of the people i've met once again my hat goes off to NICKY BLACKMARKET. Another long timer in the scene and a top, top bloke - keep smiling Nicki ;). Influences really would be the original old skool jump up DJs in their time - DJ Aphrodite / DJ Hype / Shy FX / MC GQ / MC Skibbadee (from day 1 always been a facination) / MC Shabba D / MC Eksman (Also a top geezer - a true junglist soldier). I really fell for DnB after hearing Rascal + Klones - "Get Wild" such a simple tune but hugely captive, this matched the style of house i learned to mix with and therefore was a relation between the original love of mixing and my new love of DnB (A few years back).
Other influences DJ Tiesto (For being the best and most famous DJ), Mauro Picotto for evey song is as spectacular as the last! Faithless for LIVE music and unforgetable tunes!! DJ Hazard (Again every tune enjoyed) / M-Beat, Shy FX, Dillinja, Roni Size, Kosheen and recently Pendulum for breakin into the commercial charts (Widespread publicity for DnB). Big up Prodigy for putting the raw edge on dance music and breaks! RAT PACK!!! Cant forget Rat Pack!!! Just for showing us how to party from way back in the day and still now!!! SP:MC For takin his time, not about double timing non-stop MCs for me, let the music go mang!
Films like Human Traffic and any film about havin it large in every sence of the term!
Any youth worker or person gettin the younger generation to mix/scratch/mc or even just appreciate the "other side" of music thats not plastic boy-bands and cheese, its real music with real meaning made by people who will never get the recognition they deserve compared to some of the plonkers in our commercial charts across the world!
Sounds Like: In a nutshell:
A smooth transition between constantly changing styles and textures sliding up and down the mark of soft and fluffy to hard and dark, whilest maintaining a constant accelaration of energy or suspence.
In detail:
Depends! If i'm booked to play a normal pub/club/mobile gig you are not just getting the usual lineup! i will throw underground tunes in from ALL genres, some you will love, some you will hate the point is your dancing/hearing something new and different and the fact you dont mind it means you have opened your mind to a wider spectrum of music and have not been tunneled by the people that only listen to the UK Top40!
When i play Drum and Bass: Its versatile! I enjoy the most playing the BIG tunes that no-ones heard or that are not too recognised, i purposly make a point of NOT buying the latest BIG tunes as i know from a ravers perspective if you go out more than once every 3 months you are going to hear these tunes again and again!!! (Ie: TC - Pornstar / Clips - Cocoa / Pendulum - Tarantula) My styles mainly bouncy / rolling jump up. Ill mix dubplates with tunes 5/6 years old for a smooth effect. And its not always about double drops and keeping the mix in, sometime u just gota switch it! So Sounds like: HAZARD / TOMMY KAIN / HYPE / techy in bits like BROCKIE / BAD COMPANY and may even go a little dark or liquidy! All about dropping Old Skool killers, at least one each set!
Tunes that stand out in their own right, not always the big tunes everyone knows!
