Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in C

About Me

I was born and raised in South Africa, but have been living in Italy for some years now. I speak Italian, English and Afrikaans. I love getting to know our Living God through His Word. I do not belong to any church denomination, but rely mainly on the Bible and prayer for guidance.
My family has always been Christian as far as I know. We never belonged to any church in particular, although recently i found out my grandfather (who died when i was 8) was a preacher in the Assemblies of God church. He later stopped that because he realised how some church groups focus on money and other things instead of God.
I remember us in my grandfathers house doing large family get-togethers, praying, reading and praising God together. My family is quite musical so there were various instruments played as we sang praises to God.
After he died though, this all stopped. Through the years i believe we all drifted quite far, looking at everything that went wrong in our lives.. my whole family has been through many trials.
About a year ago I was working with a Muslim man and we spoke a lot about our faith. His dedication, devotion and immense faith inspired me and he pushed me to read the bible and find answers to his questions.. it was a great period of discovery.. at last I found my way back to God!
To learn a little more about me, my beliefs and my thoughts, please check out my blog index below!
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. - Galations 6:8-10

What's The Verdict?
The 10 Commandments form our moral law, the standard God wants us to live up to. Take a good look at these laws to make sure you are in alignment to those standards.
Take a look at how you measure up, look at each law... did you keep it or break it... ever?
Number 1
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
(Exo 20:2-3)

Do you put God first in your life? Before TV, Food, Sport, Games, Books, Somebody you love, Friends, MySpace.. Before anything and everything? We have ALL broken this commandment!
Number 2
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
(Exo 20:4-6)

Now many people have different views on this commandment, but I can tell you I'm sure this is definitely talking about making images to represent God. Ive been in many churches and Ive seen statues, pictures, and all sorts, not only of Jesus but also Mary and other Saints. And I've even seen people praying to them and bowing down to them! This happens especially in the Catholic churches. No beads, no pictures, no statues are going to do anything for you, especially not any human being that is no longer alive! Only God can answer prayers in Jesus' name, nobody else's.
Number 3
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
(Exo 20:7)

Have you ever used the Name of God to express disgust, surprise or shock at something?
Number 4
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
(Exo 20:8-11)

This is the only commandment that starts with "Remember", possibly because most of us have forgotten! The seventh day of the week is the Sabbath day. To know what that means and exactly which day is the seventh, please do a simple search on Google and visit my blog to see what the bible says about it.
Number 5
Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
(Exo 20:12)

Number 6
Thou shalt not kill.
(Exo 20:13)

Number 7
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
(Exo 20:14)

Number 8
Thou shalt not steal.
(Exo 20:15)

Number 9
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
(Exo 20:16)

Number 10
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
(Exo 20:17)

As far as I know, all of us have broken at least 2 or 3 of them. That makes us guilty on the day of Judgment. Being found guilty at Judgment day means being sent to hell!
But God loves all his children and wants us to be reunited with Him in heaven so He made a way out.
Jesus came to earth in human form to live life as a man, he was sinless, never sinned even though he too was tempted. He was our perfect example of how to live a life in God's will.
Jesus was sacrificed on the cross to pay for our sins. Yours and mine! All we have to do is acknowledge that, turn from our sins and ask for forgiveness of our past sins and be Baptized. Then start our new life walking in His will and turning from temptation whenever it appears.
Think of it this way: You were sentenced to prison with the option of bail. but you could not afford the bail.
Then somebody else (who loves you dearly) pays your bail for you. The judge is satisfied, the requirement was met, you are free to go!
Jesus paid your bail in full!
This gift is yours for the taking, but you must accept it, you must choose to turn from sin, and you should start reading your bible everyday so you will learn the love God has for you and what His will is for your life.
Hell is not a pretty place, make sure you are straight with God, you never know when your time on this earth is over!
May God bless you with a new heart and an understanding of His will for you. Amen.

Other Christians who love the Lord and are trying to do and teach His commandments daily.

Psalms 19:7-11
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Footprints In The Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?

The Lord replied, The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.

Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? Matthew 5:16
A Poem I refuse to be Discouraged
I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
And here's the reason why...
I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
And I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.
My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten
To rob me of my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.
And when my heart melts within me,
And weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.
The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.
I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victorys mine;
He'll help me win the race.
