Like most of the others, I was a seeker, a mover, a malcontent, and at times a stupid hell-raiser. I was never idle long enough to do much thinking, but I felt somehow that my instincts were right. I shared a vagrant optimism that some of us were making real progress, that we had taken an honest road, and that the best of us would inevitably make it over the top.
At the same time, I shared a dark suspicion that the life we were leading was a lost cause, that we were all actors, kidding ourselves along on a senseless odyssey. It was the tension between these two poles - a restless idealism on one hand and a sense of impending doom on the other - that kept me going.

TRACK BY TRACK COMMENTARY BY THREE
1. Aphasia Say Hello Buy 12" Now
Aphasia's "Acapulco" was a summer smash for us in '03. It'd been by Hooj Choons with remixes, but we kept this little AA side for our own release. It's a sleeper with a wicked groove. Early mornings for sure.
2. Rabbit In The Moon Timebomb (Original Mix) Buy 12" Now
For me this is R.I.T.M. at their best. If you liked Second-Hand Satellites I'd like to think you would just be blown away by this. It's tech, it's acid with wicked variations in groove. Add Bunny's bizarre vocals about "sex thru electronics" and eventually the funky percussion .you just don't find records like this anymore.
3. Sycophant Slags Dharma Fields
Mr. C's a legend in his own right and in the last year he's really hit his musical stride (again!) in pairing up with NYC's Francis Harris. The first time I heard this track I was hooked. It's got this reminiscent vibe you can't really put a finger on, as it's still a totally modern Slags production. A total mood-maker. they've just done a mix of Reverse Commuter's (a.k.a. [a]pendics.shuffle) Southern Charge from this album that's equally great!
4. Reverse Commuter feat. Terryn Westbrook New York To Me
Reverse Commuter is my favorite project at the moment . Their first release with us touched so many areas. This time L.A. songstress / actress Terryn Westbrook delivers a torch song for DJ / studio widows around the world."Hotel rooms are vacuumsthey take you away 'til you fade from my memory.". K en Gibson's twisted electronica backdrop is outrageous. And the remixes to come, wow!
5. Bob Skies Proletariat
Hailing from Hallucination Limited's original home base of Tampa, Florida, Bob's forthcoming single shines with raw, bass heavy groove and unique sounds. Like "Timebomb" there's another suggestive vocal. I'm not just looking for records like that, I promise.
6. Reverse Commuter Southern Charge
I can't say enough about K en Gibson. Remixing Markus Nikolai, Pheek and others, 2005 was his year to break through. He's a full-on over-achiever with his dubLoner, Premature Wig and [a]pendics.shuffle projects resonating from various K ompakt labels to Mille Plateau and L.A. 's Skor. Not too mention the Hiss and Buzz release with Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto. This time around it's K en on the vocal duties. Machine-funk all the way to the main rooms. Remixes from Motor (Mute Records) and Sycophant Slags to come.
7. Terry Francis & Ricardo Change Buy 12" Now
Terry's a good friend and I was thrilled with his first record for us. The general consensus from Eddie Richards to Lee Burridge was it was his best work. This time Terry has found a vocalist from Portugal simply known as Ricardo and the results are outstanding. Terry-meets-Larry Heard vibes with Ricardo's vocals gliding on top. Pure class.
8. Little Mike Back To Gravity
Denver's Little Mike has really come into his own in the last two years. He's a great DJ and his productions just get better every time. He knew "11th & Broadway" on Casa Del Soul was a favorite of mine with it's moody Detroit-styled melodies, so after playing one of his great parties out there he slipped this in the CD player and fell in love with it instantly. Mike's an up and comer worthy of the hype.
9. Sean Q6 Out In The Shed Buy 12" Now
Sean and I co-produced Second-Hand Satellites and he played this for me after returning from recording sessions in Manchester. I was determined to have it from the first time I heard it. Unique, fun party record all the way. Was an underground smash for Silicone Soul and 16B on through to West Coast house heroes Doc Martin and DJ Buck.
10. Sensitize History Is Not Shrinking (Mount Sims feat. Linda Lamb rework)
Mount Sims took the riffed-out, minimal original and turned it on its head with a classy, but catchy Italo-vibed rework and he added full vocals from International Deejay Gigolos artist Linda Lamb! Her vocals sound straight out of a lost classic and the track is undeniably funky. L.A. duo Sensitize return the favor to equal results on what will be a split 12" release with Mount Sims this Summer.
11. Q-Burns Abstract Message featuring Lisa Shaw This Time (Grumptronix v. QBAM S25 Vocal Mix) Buy 12" Now
One of the best tracks off QBAM's Invisible Airline album gets reworked by the man himself and our own electro savvy Grumptronix. Dreamy electro punctuated by the vocals of Lisa Shaw. It's an unlikely pairing -- her voice and blissed-out electro -- but what a result.
12. Grumptronix Lovefix
Last, but certainly not least is Hallucination's unsung hero Grumptronix. "Lovefix" is a more melodic take on his unique electro style. We only have a few copies of his "Level 5" release in our online store (yes, I'm plugging him for the uninitiated!) and he's done a fantastic mix for My Life With the Thrill K ill K ult on Red Ant Records this year (another plug, sorry!!). His rare outings have been lauded by Weatherall and the like, but the music should speak for itself. Grumptronix is an original.
