About Me
HEET MOB RECORDS
ESTABLISHED 1991
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
Heet Mob Recordswas established by Victor "Daheeteus" Hunt and local Hip Hop group, Innovative Black Funk(Daheeteus,Solomon,D.J. Flex D), to be the support unit, foundation, and business outlet for the group and other k.c. based local talent. Shortly afterwards I.B.F joined forces with frozen image productions and Icy Roc for musical production, which already hosted an array of talent from the city(Basement Khemist"Ill brew", tech9ne, Vell Barkardi, Sole' and others.). That led to the early I.B.F releases(The Black Plan, Funky Black Stuff, and the I.B.F, most popular song "Can't get enough of the city") from 1992-94.
By 1995 Heet Mob Records established in house musical production from Daheeteus for Black Funkula Prod. After a 1 year hiyatus to develop musically, Heet Mob releases a free Hip Hop sampler in 96' with musical colabos by I.B.F. and the Basement Khemist, calling it the "Soul Project". Creating a serious buzz amongst the k.c. Hip Hop community and throughout the midwest, spawning this to become a group and expand by recruiting fellow immediate mc's and friends of ours, and at the same time develop the talent under the umbrella of Heet Mob.
By 97' Soul Project became the main focus of the label, putting together a solid EP of classic k.c. Hip Hop tracks as a full group.
Soul Project set out to practice, develop and tour as a group for a year, opening up for acts such as Outkast, Fat Joe,Terror squad, and the Wu Tang Clan plus various Hip Hop venues throughout the midwest region. But due to failed business and distribution ventures the EP was never released.
In 98' Daheeteus and John Lee of the Basement Khemist became business partners to join forces and legitimize the label as a self supportive independent label, providing recording, publishing, musical development, production, booking, promotion and management, thus becoming, Heet Mob Records L.L.C. copyright 1998.
Recruiting, developing talent, recording and running one of the first Hip Hop open mic venues(voted best Hip Hop club"club mardi gras" historic 18th and vine jazz district, by the pitch weekly in k.c.Mo) for two and half years, Heet Mob Records stood ready to release it's roster of talent, starting with the Soul Project.
In 2001 Heet Mob Records was signed to Chuck D's(Public Enemy) Slamjamz.com in a song licenseing deal. This has given the label an outlet for it's artist to be exposed, seen and heard worldwide digitally, as well as all other forms of musical releases, the record label for the 21st century.
The exposure would pay off almost immediately, in 2002 the slamjamz/Heet Mob Records-Soul Project single release "I See Ya" would be picked up to be in the score of the fox searchlite movie "Brown Sugar"(scene 20 on the DVD), to be heard in theatres throughout the nation. This gave instant exposure to the label and Soul Project for momentum leading up to the maxi single release - Shine Thru 2002-03, the first independently released project for the new Heet Mob Records L.L.C.,
The single was sold in stores throughout the midwest region, with radio play in chicago (Third Rail), none on local radio???????.
The release still managed to create a wider fan base and buzz throughout the region, and worldwide online.
Reopened open mic venue "The Essence" in 2002 for another run of 2 years, restablishing the hottest open mic spot and best talent the city had to offer, at the same time selling, promoting, and giving away cds at the venue to further expose the Heet Mob sound throughout the Hip Hop community, including a packed house free lecture from the legendary Chuck D himself.
Heet Mob Records has continued to release singles under slamjamz.com, presently under the self titled group name Heet Mob.
The past few years have been highlighted by new material, various appearences and shows most notably, the opening act for Dilated peoples, Blackalicious, and Public Enemy at the House of Blues in Chicago, Ill.
Fully self supportive with an office facility and studio, 16 artist and staff currently make up the family. All new projects coming soon for 06', check www.slamjamz.com for new distribution, downloads, videos, dvds, release dates and more.
