About Me

Mr Lift has been doing his thing in Kansas City's hip hop scene since the early '90s. First working with live bands, Tommy emceed with Meat and Potatoes- a 5 piece group that included bass, guitar, harmonica and a female vocalist. He also rhymed along a young Joe Good in a group called the Soulution- practicing in a Baptist church off Truman and Clevland. Later, Mr. Lift was a contributing member of FLAVORPAK- a high quality underground street culture zine, and eventually started making beats and putting a studio together. The Circle of Thieves is now Tommy's studio (816 588 2412), and together with Jaz ( 64111clinic.com ), they run the compound - a underground recording nirvana. Another of Tom's projects is the Chop Shop - a hip hop producers' forum showcasing live beats and jam sessions with producers, djs, emcees and instrumentalists.
