------------------------------THANKS!!!Check Out our Sydney Star Observer Interview:Check Out our North Shore Times Interview:'She Is' is an acoustic duo which formed late 2004 featuring Kali on Vocals and Acoustic Guitar, and Lauren on Acoustic Guitar, Backing Vocals and Percussion. Kali and Lauren have been playing in and around Sydney frequently since their beginning. They met at The JMC Academy, a renound music institute in Sydney’s Surry Hills in 2003 and started playing in a college band (Vexed - with Lauren on drums) and decided to team up for something a bit different! They both graduated from The JMC Academy in association with the University of New England with a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Music and Performance in 2006 and have put all focus into their music. Since their beginning they have played at venues such as The Roxbury in Glebe, Sydney’s Hard Rock Cafe, The Excelsior in Surry Hills, The Seymour Centre, The Cat and Fiddle in Balmain, The Steyne in Manly, The Hornsby Inn, The Pittwater RSL, to name a few... along side acts such as Porcelain, Vegas Baby, Box Of Rain, A Little Revolution, and many more.
They were 2nd runners up in the 2004 Pittwater Band Competition.Lauren is usually found behind a drumkit in several Sydney bands, one of which Kali also sings for - Delicate. They were both in the Sydney band Held, which recently dissolved.They both write and arrange for She is, which is mainly an originals band- with some well known, and well loved covers occasionally slipped in.They have recorded and released their debut 4 Track EP titled ‘Here’ with Guitarist Guru Peter Northcote at Peter Northcote Studios. This EP showcases some of She Is’ finest material. The delicately selected songs reflect on the broad spectrum of musical styles which She Is incorporate into their song writing. They were blessed to have the talent of Pete Northcote, who kindly laid down some lead tracks to spice up the songs, as well as Lauren adding some simple percussion to add another dimension.
