Don't Git Sassy! - with its original music - is after an optimal and balanced mix of Jazz and electronic Dance music, combining the best of both worlds as we see it. The regular Jazz quarter line-up of trombone, guitar, bass and drums assures extensive interactive improvisations and communication among musicians; we believe this is the richness of Jazz. At the same time, a computer notebook live on stage produces a fat layer of today’s hip sounds and rhythms underneath: Hiphop, House, Trance, Drums and Bass. With this, we wish to connect to today’s reality in music.
We see that most of this contemporary music has been produced by DJ’s who hire Jazz musicians to play intersections in their productions. Don’t Git Sassy! – on the other hand - is a band of true Jazz musicians who embrace electronic music while keeping the Jazz principles as mentioned above as a principle. The musicians of the band include:
- Jaap Voeten (B): trombone / sequencing and samples/ compositions
- Joep van Leeuwen (NL): electric guitar
- Henry Schuler (B): bass
- Martijn Soeterbroek (NL): drums
For the past years we have performed in Jazz clubs, Jazz festivals, cross-over and Dance stages in The Netherlands and Belgium reaching broad audiences of young as well as older jazz fans. Don’t Git Sassy! is valued for its innovative Jazz approach reflecting what is happening in contemporary music today.
