Ray Prasad is a true DJ/ Radio Programmer/Producer/ Record Promo Rep. Her passion is the music and she is on a quest to share that with you. Born in Trinidad & Tobago, representing a love of diversity & her heritage, she experienced the many sounds of the West Indian island (known as T & T) in the Caribbean. Her Indian roots, which exposed her to Indian beats & Caribbean vibes, introduced her to the influence of the Spanish & Black heritages from around the world. Due to the various musical genres she absorbed & appreciated Ray is able to display numerous styles of music that she incorporates into DJing such as Dance, House, Disco, Soca, Calypso and Reggae.
Her uncle was a DJ in the late 70’s, exposing her to many genres of music. Such early influences to name a few are Disco, Calypso, Reggae, Indian & Spanish music. Ray instantly fell in love with music at a very young age. The experience had such an impact on her. It inspired her to develop her craft to become a DJ, while gaining knowledge of all styles of music and keeping her roots firmly planted in her culture.
In 2005, Ray got a chance to produce her first remix project under the Canadian Record label MixedSignalsMusic -MSM 002 ~ The GK Experience, SpaceDust EP.
In 1996, Ray began DJing in Toronto, (Canada) events such as: DJ’s for PRIDE 2003, Du Maurier Jazz Festival 2003, Garage 416, Honey Jam 2003 /02, Jive 3, Solid Garage, Shakebody, 52 INC., Desh for Desh Quaradsonic, Chick’s Dig It, Art Of Soul – Resident DJ, Montreal @ Therapy 2002 , Detroit @ DEMF 2003 - Urban Heirs Party.
In a male dominated industry, Ray Prasad has turned many heads and ears displaying her skills behind the turntables. Known in the past for blowing the roof off parties, watch for this DJ in the future, as she mesmerizes crowds around the world with her signature style. Standing in a class by her-self playing with the best of the best sharing the stage with some of the world’s greatest House music luminaries at Toronto parties: Masters At Work - Little Louie Vega, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Craig Alexander, Wes Cage, Mike Clark, Body & Soul – Danny Krivit, Mateo & Matos, Gene King, Nick Holder, Abacus, JoJo Flores, Marshall Jefferson.
In 2006 - Ray’s goals are to continue to DJ internationally, on a mission she has started at the Miami Winter Music Conference (March/2006) - Unified Records party opening up for: Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, Mr A.L.I, Peven Everett, Gene Hunt, Brian Reeves, Theo Parrish, Terry Hunter, Karizma, and DJ Spinna. Onto the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF May/06) for the internet radio show Netmusique Soiree Party with DJ’s: Terrance Parker, Ray Bone, Jean-Paul, Mo Reese, Bradford James, and Gene King. In addition, Detroit was an all female DJ line up @ Buzz Niteclub with Ray spinning smooth grooves. Then landing in the windy city for Chicago’s Ladies on Deck (June/2006) along side Lady D-( http://www.dlectible.com ),Shani Hebert - ( http://www.thegroovetemple.com ) - Chicago Donna “Baby J†Jeffries - ( http://www.handzonradio.com ) - Baltimore.
