Dave: Putting the F-U Back in FUN!

I am here for Friends

About Me

If you wanna talk, my screen name is MartyDC91.
Above all else, I am a very candid person. For some that can be a little off-putting, but I always make my intentions clear.
I'm a student of psychology, a whore for literature and a plumber for sociocultural musings. I love pointing out grammatical errors in term papers and logical flaws in arguments. I'm a diplomat in most circles. Most people see me as an advice peddler, but I don't favor that.
I love my friends, I hate my living situation and I can take or leave my family.
I collect quotes, children's literature, foreign currency and bus schedules.
Carl tells me I have many pet peeves. I hate it when he says that.

My Interests

Writing, reading, ranting, blogging, webcomics, hockey, football, B-movies, psychology. And, in case you didn't get the hint, I like to chat on AIM. My screen name is MartyDC91.

I'd like to meet:

David Byrne, so I can give him a really big hug.

Music:

Ya know, if David Byrne, Mike Patton, John Zorn and Les Claypool formed a band, I would never listen to anything else ever again. But until then, I'll listen to:
Japanese pop/rock, punk, classic rock, Celtic, post-punk, experimental/avant-garde, klezmer, video game music.

Oh, and by the way, The only person I'd consider a true guitar god is Django Reinhardt. He only had two working fingers on his left hand and he still had greater technique, style and musical flavor than any other guitarist out there.

Movies:

My favorite directors/producers/actors/whatever are Ed Wood, Tim Burton, Mel Brooks, Martin Scorcese, Woody Allen, and Roger Corman.
In general (and in no real order), my favorite movies are as follows:
Ed Wood
This Is Spinal Tap
Ichi the Killer
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Match Point
Annie Hall
Sayonara
Man on the Moon
Stalag 17
Dirty Dozen
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Harvey
The Seventh Seal
Wild Strawberries
Little Shop of Horrors
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Eegah
Back to The Future I, II and III
Castle in the Sky

Television:

Simpsons
Beavis and Butt-Head
South Park
Colbert Report
Ros Na Run
Bobby's World
Stella
Futurama
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Taxi

Books:

..

Heroes:

David Byrne, Dr. Aaron T. Beck, Fred Rogers, and all the teachers.
Not to mention Rebecca, the crazy old lady who lives in the computer. She's a true ninja indeed.

An elegy, an invocation and a fuck-you letter.

On this second anniversary of Vanessa's passing, I am still left to ponder what would have happened had she not broken down. The specter of guilt still surfaces from time to time, and on certain occas...

He peered into her eyes, two cutting rays of beautiful starlight.

The summer of 2006... how to describe it? Frankly, it's been terrible. My father was away for two weeks, doing what he could to amend a situation in which I will not go into any de...
