The Word Cheeks was named after "Cheeks", a former upscale Lounge and restaurant, in Detroit. “I Remember the class and quality of that venue and I hold that as the standard of the type of events I want to plan.†The number 22 refers to the date (August 22,) McDaniel arrived in Houston. “The date stands as a memorial to my family and true friends in Detroit that I left behind,that I will never forget†he explains.Throughout his many years in the business, McDaniel has worked with Verizon Theater, Arena Theater,PACE Concerts, Clear Channel and Infinity radio. He’s thrown 100 events and 15 concerts. “I don’t want to restrict myself to just doing parties. I’ve been there and done that"...... parties, concerts, fashion shows, hip-hop concerts, jazz concerts, R&B concerts.†As an example, he’s promoted artist such as The world famous Bob James, George Clinton, Sinbad, Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Bobby Lyle, Chris Walker,Klye Turner,Roy Ayres, Fourplay to name a few and many Houston area artists. Von is always busy and on the go,along with producing and promoting events , He presently does cousulting work for many area night clubs and venues in Houston and Detroit. He also cordinates events for The NBA ALL Star Weekend, American Association of Blacks in Energy and books live entertainment for his select clients.His experience and reputation in the entertainment industry solidifies his ability to produce events with a high awareness for logistics, budget constraints, and time-sensitive planning.
