hello, my name is matt pollard - I am a self taught musician from the uk and I mainly specialise in solving technical music sequencing software problems for teachers and students at the college where I work. I am in a folk rock band called wavesweeper based in leicester. I have a degree in Music Technology and Innovation and Fine Art. But as you well know that doesn't mean shit in this day in age! I am crap at maths and I'm earnestly trying to find new ways to get out of having to do keyskills level two in numeracy (it will cost me 7 days holiday a year if I don't). I try and make music with good melodies and good lyrics, i'm not too anal about how I record things - although I like to use older analogue or valve equipment and record down into Pro-Tools and master back onto tape - but I get bored of mixing too quickly and as for mastering - there's no point if you can't be bothered to mix it properly in the first place. So most of the recordings I do are sketches for something I intend to produce when i'm more patient (or a patient) later on. One of my hobbies is to modify and restore old guitars and amplifiers, I mainly work on my own guitars at the moment but i'm hoping to start a small business selling things I buy - back on ebay. I'm quite good with guitar electronics and have made vast imrovements to the soundquality of the pickups in my telecasters. I have also modified my old epiphone to play like a dobro guitar so it can be played normally or lapsteel style without having to retune.
