SKE is an alternative pop collective from Iceland. The groups unique brew of experimental, alternative melodic pop was swiftly picked up by the much heralded, Sugarcube-owned label Smekkleysa/Bad Taste SM, and has since found its place as a critically acclaimed masterpiece by the Icelands music press. As well as winning them friends within the international media circuit, with Nick Harcourt at KCRW radio in LA claiming that their music brings spring to winter.
Their debut album Live, Death Happiness & Stuff was nominated as the Album of the Year in Iceland 2003 and won an award for track of the year - it is sung in a curious mix of English, French and Japanese. Their second album Feelings are great was released in 2004, got excellent reviews and will soon also be available internationally. The third CD is in the making.
Recently SKE's lineup has changed. New to the band is Hössi from the internationally known hip hop band Quarashi, showing that there is more to him than rapping with his unique vocal work. New on the drums is Paul Maguire from Liverpool, who has among other things played with bands such as Echo and the Bunnymen and The Las.
