Ludlow Lions make sharp, kinetic indie-pop. Melodies, words, some clang and squeal, rhythms both on-and-off kilter. This is threat level natural rock. Born in 2006, Ludlow Lions are from Brooklyn, NY. Their roots suck sustenance from ground made fertile by XTC, Wire, Guided By Voices, Soft Boys, The Jam, Bowie, Costello, Pixies. . .
Most of their songs have guitars, bass, and drums, and Brendan's voice. The guitars tend to be trebly and slicey and/or strummy, though sometimes they put some fuzz on, or pretend that they are synthesizers. The bass and drums are the engine and the wheels, and even the road, and maybe even the Public Works Department. Without them, Ludlow Lions would be an ungovernable load of chaos, with lots of dumb slogans. Luckily, the rhythm section keeps it movin' way past that sort of thing. Listen above.
