DELINQUENT consist of Mike Panteli and Philip Omo . Aged 25, they have worked hard at establishing themselves as a prominent force in the new-breed of UK Dance Producers, hence their undisputable title of "Bassline Godfathers".
Formed in 1999, DELINQUENT adapted quickly to the requirements of the music industry; and after a lot of hard work and dedication, were remixing for major record labels at the tender age of 18. At this stage, DELINQUENT were working ahead of their time and formed their own production company: SPOILT ROTTEN ENTERTAINMENT , in 2003.
2003 saw the duo burst onto the music scene in a big way , remixing for the likes of JAMELIA (Bout), MIS-TEEQ (Can't Get It Back/Style), JAIMESON (Take Control/Complete), TIMBALAND & MAGOO (Cop That Disc) and KEISHA WHITE (What You Gonna Do). Consistent interviews on KISS 100 (Matt Jam Lamont), and BBC 1xtra (Ras Kwame/Cameo/Richie Vee) firmly cemented their status as the production outfit that re-ignited public interest in the vocal 4/4 garage scene, after it's brief demise in 2002.
DELINQUENT's success continued in 2004 when they were commissioned to remix NATASHA BEDDINGFIELD's debut track, entitled "single'. This particular remix was on heavy rotation in club-land. They also released underground vocal anthems such as "Like A Feather", "R U Ready" and "Playin' Around" on SPOILT ROTTEN . However, their biggest remixes/releases were yet to follow...
2005 saw DELINQUENT officially remix USHER's massive top ten hit "Caught Up" and CIARA's equally successful "1,2 Step". Both remixes catapulted DELINQUENT's status to a higher level. All areas of the media were interested in the movement they were pioneering. DJ bookings and pa's followed, ensuring that their unique 4/4 style was exposed to all areas of the UK, notably LONDON, SHEFFIELD, WALES, LEEDS, LEICESTER, BRIGHTON, BOGNOR REGIS, WOLVERHAMPTON and NOTTINGHAM.
DELINQUENT in 2006 released two successful underground hits in "Ghetto Queen" and "Circles", in addition to remixing for SOOPAFLY (DATA - MINISTRY) and SOUNDBWOY (MINISTRY OF SOUND) In addition to these releases, Gemma Fox "Boxers" was added to the strong SPOILT ROTTEN catalogue. In late 2006 DELINQUENT scooped the BEST PRODUCER category at the MUZIK 4U awards, stamping their authority and influence on UK dance music. 2007 arrived, and Delinquent's biggest underground release was yet to come, a track called "My Destiny", featuring the sweet, sexy vocals of KCAT...caused so much of a fuss that it enabled the bassline duo to become the first 4/4 bassline act to by signed by a major independent label. "My Destiny" was a daytime favourite on BBC 1xtra and through extensive power play throughout clubland, it was inevitable that Delinquent would receive the plaudits they deserved. They have since given Dave Spoon/Lisa Maffia's "Bad Girl At Night" the 4/4 bassline makeover too, along with US sensation J.Holiday's "Bed" (VIRGIN), and a hot remix of "Zookey" by Yves Le Rock (DEFECTED RECORDS), Taio Cruz - "Come On Girl" (ISLAND) and Funkerman - "Speed Up" (DEFECTED). To call them the "Bassline Godfathers" is an understatement. DELINQUENT have remixed and mixed 5 tracks for Taio Cruz, included as a bonus disk on his own official album release "Departure". "My Destiny" is sweeping clubland and commercial radio as it took the national charts by storming in at No 19. The future is certainly promising. DELINQUENT look set to boss the UK dance scene for many years to come!!
