About Me

www.willknaak.com
Will Knaak, 23 year old guitarist/singer/songwriter/instrumentalist from Austin, Texas, grew up playing local Austin clubs at age 12.
Highlights of the first year include the following: performing onstage with Charlie and Will Sexton, Doug Sahm, Paul Ray of the Cobras and playing every Thursday night with The Nortons @ The Hole in the Wall.
He then joined Natural Ear Music School. He was the lead guitarist for a kid band called "Redheaded Stepchild". Will still teaches at the school as guitar instructor to this day.
At age 15, Will became a sideman-guitarist in the Texas Fiddle Legend, Alvin Crow's band. After seeing action as a Pleasant Valley Boy for a year, Will decided to try things on his own and began forming a band himself.
He booked his first show with the new band at Auditorium Shores. During the concert, the Mayor of Austin proclaimed May 24th, "Will Knaak Day". There were two news stations filming and Will held up his end of the bargain by wowing a crowd of 5000+.
After this, Will continued to play around Austin with his band "Knaak Attack". During this time, he hosted weekly gigs at many venues and was a sideman guitarist for hire, playing 3-5 nights a week. With "Knaak Attack" he had the oppurtunity to perform shows with Los Lonely Boys, Monte Montgomery, Vallejo, Asleep At The Wheel, Bill Kirchen, Amplified Heat and many others as well as earning spots in the "Best Rock Bands" and "Best Electric Guitarists" categories of the Austin Chronicle Music Poll.
At age 20, he was hired by the legendary Bill Ham (Manager/Producer of ZZ-Top for 37 years) as a touring country guitarist. The project lasted for over 2 years with a touring schedule opening for some of country music's hottest superstars including: Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Big $ Rich, Dierks Bentley, Pat Green, Gary Allen, Kevin Fowler, Reckless Kelly, Roger Creager and many others.
Will's latest solo pursuit is working on a rock record of which he just debuted his first single, "Feel Like A Stranger" on 93.7 KLBJ's syndicated Blueseum of Fine Art Show and Local Licks.
In addition to his own project he has recently done fill in work with regional pop/country group Honeybrowne, played for Johnny Lee (No. 1 Hits on Country Music Charts, including "Looking For Love") as guitarist for a music video to be featured on CMT/GAC in Spring '08 and playing/recording with the female Willie, Pauline Reese. During the fall of 2007 Will has gone to play Willie's Nelson's "Farm Aid Concert" in New York and a tour in Europe.
Will is also involved as guitarist for the current singer of Skid Row, Johnny Solinger, on the self-titled release for Smith Entertainment. Listen for the single "Too Well To Go To Work" on Texas, Oklahoma and Sirius XM country/americana stations.
It is a very busy time right now, with a schedule that currently involves playing with the Will Knaak Trio, Johnny Solinger, Pauline Reese and teaching 30+ students a week.

Basically if it's music that has good energy, good melody and feels good, I like it.
Sounds Like: The power trio reminiscent of Hendrix, Cream, ZZ-Top sounds like the following videos. However, this is one facet of the kind of music I write. The new power pop demos are on the way. Heartfelt to hilarious, I can't wait to unveil them.
