Mortificy - Brazillian Brutal Death Metal

About Me

Formed in 2000 by the guitar players Daniel Silva and Tiago Oriony, the band Mortificy arises in the capital of Amazonas with the intend of making extreme and original music.
Right after comes to the band Marcelo Silva (Daniels brother) as vocalist and the bass player Icaro Freitas. The band intensifies the search for a drummer that could keep the brutality we wanted, but after many tests, we found no one and Mortificy had to go its way using a synthesized drum.
On this period Mortificy looses the guitar player Tiago Oriony and few months later Mortificy starts the live presentations as a trio, participating in festivals and concerts, giving prominence to the presentation by Krisiuns side in 2002.
In the beginning of 2003 Mortificy has the formation completed with the entrance of the drummer Robson Mariano, doing the old compositions become much more extreme and brutal than it was with the synthesized drum.
In the end of this same year the band goes to the studio and records the demo Brutal Instincts of Retalliation with 4 own made compositions and a Gorefest cover. This material receives many positive reviews from the underground scene and in less than a year the first release of 500 copies is done and the band is invited to be part of many national and international compilations, giving prominence to Exploding Corpses Compilation, Necromance Compilation Spanish compilation that counted on Inhumate (FRA), Axon (MEX), Abbadon Incarnate (IRE), Witches Sabbath (SPA), Emeth (BEL) and others and also the 4way 4 Tormenting ways to Hell by the Polish label Gruft Prod..
Meanwhile the band did many live presentations at the Amazonas capital to divulgate its materials emphasizing the concerts with Funeratus, Korzus and the presentations on the traditional extreme metal festivals Open the Gates of Hell I, Against Christ Again I and II, Amazon Blood I and Festival Extremo Norte I. Those presentations made many entitle Mortificy as the Northern Brazil Death Metal promise.
In May, 2005, the band begins to record the debut album called Burn and Suffer. After done the recordings the band decides to mix the material in Da Tribo Studio at São Paulo and right after is invited by Morte Pacífica Produções to do presentations there, what becomes true later under the name of Mortificy Brutal Tour.
Just before the Tour starts, in December, 2005, Trevas Distro proposes to release the demo Brutal Instincts of Retalliation in K-7 shape, having the release yet in the same month.
The tour is successfully done having passed by the cities of Manaus, Cotia, Guarulhos, Osasco, São Paulo e Jundiaí. The guys from São Paulo immediately accept our work, increasing the expectations of the Debut album release.
Finally the material is mixed at Da Tribo Studio by the technician Ciero, professional who have already worked with bands like Krisiun, Abhorrence, Funeratus, Torture Squad, and does a great job in partnership with Mortificy. The band also participates in Tribe Magazines first edition, which came with a DVD including recordings of the live presentation that Mortificy did at Osasco and counts on a national and international divulgation of 10.000 copies, turning Mortificys songs accessible all over the country.
While the band prepares itself to the release of the Debut album, the Split CD "Unholy Triumph" (Mortificy x Mesemon Ecrof) was released by "Morte Pacífica Recs" and Mortificy works to promote it,keeps on doing shows in northern Brazilian cities, especially Manaus (AM) and Boa Vista (RR).
Nowadays Mortificy is formed by Marcelo Silva (vocals), Daniel Silva (guitars and backing vocals), Icaro Freitas (bass and backing vocals) and Robson Mariano (drum).
With lyrics that show all the hate and indignation about wars, disasters, human ignorance, religion and everything else that affects in repugnant ways, directly or indirectly, our days, Mortificy is now on the final part of the debut album production. Its called Burn and Suffer and has the release expected to the second semester of this year.
