About Me

I like walking my dogs, actually I don't LIKE it, it's quite stressful as they are not well behaved, but THEY like it, listening to music, challenging people's take on reality, drawing, being outside, trying to make sense of it all, sometimes cooking, making music, a tedious affair at best, but very fun, I highly recommend the little Tascam eight track I have which name escapes me at the moment, and discussing the current state of affairs with friends....and what a state of affairs it is at the moment. My Interests

Let's see, where to start, I am a middle school teacher of at-risk students. I like to draw, make music, listen to music, and engage in political debate. I was born and "reared" in Albuquerque. I like plants and they seem to like me, if my multitude of plants that aren't dead are any indication. I like art, Edvard Munch is pretty decent, I enjoy good tattoo work, both on me and others, I deplore a lot of what our government is doing at the moment, and don't have a lot of hope that Pelosi and Co. will make much of a turnaround, I am an optimistic but realistic Democrat. I have a keen sense of smell even though I smoke, and enjoy taking pictures of cool things. I guess most of this info should have gone in the "general" category. I go to bed early and wake up early, except if i'm "out and about", the old Ben Franklin addage, "early to be early to rise" is good. Uhhh...what's another good addage....good fences make good neighbors...yeah..that's it.

I'd like to meet:

Gibby Hanes, Nelson Mandela, Warren Buffett, Mother Theresa, Khalil Gibran, David Sedaris, Jesus, Kim Jong Il, Bob, Desmond Tutu (is he still alive?!), Frank Black, Perry Farrell, Michael Stipe, John Lennon

Music:

Butthole Surfers,Yo La Tengo, Air, REM, Pixies, Frank Black, Meat Puppets, Mercury Rev,Willie Nelson,Descendents,Cure, Arcade Fire, Poi Dog Pondering, Trail of Dead(two great Austin bands, I'm sure the latter of which needs no intro), Thomas Tallis, Beck, Pavement, Stephen Malkmus, Badly Drawn Boy, Iron and Wine, Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Leonard Cohen, Leonard Cohen(not a typo)Archers of Loaf, Erich Bachmann, Ride, Stone Roses, Charlatans, Boo Radleys, that whole lot, Happy Mondays etc., not to lump them all in one, Bigdamn, Elephant,(shoutouts to Ward and Partain), Vince Guaraldi, Dinosaur Jr., Fugazi, John Frusciante, Luna, Dean and Britta, Mudhoney, Dead Milkmen, Superchunk, Seam, Eef Barzelay, Jane's Addiction, Flaming Lips, Violent Femmes, I've really been digging on later Meat Puppets, not the SST stuff, but the more acoustic-ky stuff around 88-92.I could continue but that would be silly. Suffice to say that music is "muy importante" to me.

Movies:

Lately I have not had the patience for movies.

Television:

Seinfeld

Books:

While I like David Sedaris, I really can't say I "read" too much...wah..wah..I know, I'm bad..what is this thing you call..re--ree---reading...and if I list my faves, such as Barney Goes to College, and Superman Goes Grocery Shopping,I am most certain to come across as dull and unread, and a simpleton....so I'll leave it at Sedaris.

Heroes:

Krishnamurti, Khalil Gibran,Ghandi, MLK Jr., Baltaazar Gracian, David Sedaris, Ben Franklin
