I volunteer at Books For Soldiers , a website that offers deployed soldiers "care packages for the mind".
I am a homeschooling mother of four who writes fantasy fiction in my spare(?) time.
I have pet rats, which I think beat hamsters and mice, hands down. Hamsters are too prone to bite; mice smell much worse, and both drive you crazy with wheel running. Rats are much more laid back. Our current population of loveable rats is 2 males.
We have 5 cats, but only because my kids insisted. Three ginger tabbies, one gray/black tabby, and one calico-looking thing. I could do without felines. Seems like all the dogs I like just happen to start with the letter "P" (Pugs, Papillons, Pekingese, Pomeranians). Only have one dog though. Wish I could have more dogs, less cats. Oh, and as long as we're talking pets, I should probably mention the leopard gecko too. Kinda boring pet except when he scarfs mealworms.
Not a big TV person, but we do have a nice collection of movies on VHS and DVD. This collecting started when I was first married and lived in a log cabin on Palomar Mountain. Cable was not available, nor was satellite. The antenna gave us about 4 channels, one which was seasonal and fuzzy on a good day. It was an hour drive (each way) to the nearest rental store. Making two trips down the mountain (go get it, then return it) just didn't happen much. So we started buying used movies, almost all of the family variety.
I once dreamed that the Blockbuster mascots Carl and Ray (talking rabbit and guinea pig from their SuperBowl ccommercial a few years ago) came to my house and chewed me out for not putting all my videos in alphabetical order. For broadcast, I watch three TV stations almost exclusively: CBS for prime time crime dramas (NCIS, The Unit, CSI, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs), and the two big shopping channels, which I usually only get to see when the TV pops on during the rewind phase of kid's videos.
I'm not all that interesting, but if you're so bored you want to know more, visit my website www.Latoph.com

To fan or not to fan...that is the question

Yesterday it was 112 degrees in my home city. It was an all-time record. I live in a mobile home park where my non-air-conditioned trailer sits very close to two other trailers (well, it's actually c...
