About Me

Everett LaRoi is an active performing songwriter, a band member ("Manraygun" and "The Mike McDonald Broadband"), a historic song interpreter, film music composer, as well as a guitar teacher.Everett began his musical career as member of the mod/blues/psychedelic group "Route 66" in the early 1980s. Next came "Idyl Tea" with bassist/vocalist Hank Engel and drummer Craig Metcalfe. Idyl Tea signed a recording contract with Attic /A&M Records in 1990, had 3 commercial releases and toured extensively, leading up for acts such as David Lindley, Blue Rodeo, Spirit Of The West and the Watchmen. When Idyl Tea split up in 1995, Everett took some time off of live performing and took some vocal training with Alice Wright, attended master production workshops with Phil Ramone, Susan Rogers, Matt Wallace and Steve Berlin and hid in a room with a guitar for days on end. It was during this time that he also began a 4 year tenure as an open stage host, all the while writing the songs that would eventually end up on his self titled debut cd, which was released in the year 2000. In support of the disc, Everett embarked on a 20 date Canadian tour which included performances at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, The Railway Club in Vancouver, as well as appearances on the CTV television network and CBC Radio One. In 2001, Everett was selected to showcase at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.Later that same year Everett composed his first film music for the documentary "Red Run" which was released internationally by the National Film Board of Canada and also began a 2 year stint as the talent buyer for The Sugarbowl Cafe in Edmonton. Currently, LaRoi is rehearsing and recording with the group "Manraygun" (along with Dennis and Steve Lenarduzzi), playing selected dates with "The Mike McDonald Broadband", but mostly he is procrastinatiing by writing a bio for myspace.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
