Shapeshifting through the mental stream...

About Me

Gio is a Boston based vocalist with the drive to help inspire other Boston based musicians. She had first entered the Boston circuit performing with a southern hip-hop group called South Soho from 2001-2003 playing shows at several venues such as The Middle East, Sky Bar, and many others. Kris Smith had a huge hand in helping South Soho produce atmospheric and fulfilling beats to write their lyrics to. In 2003, after a turbulent relationship with the band's musical style, Gio later decided to branch out and experience other vocal styles and challenges with different genres of music by traveling down to Florida's dance scene. When she linked up with Reticent Recordings in 2004, she had soon found herself singing on several house tracks. Her first song completed on Reticent's label, Fish Bowl, was never released but later made two more singles. One of which was titled Disconnected Soul and was later featured at the 2004 Winter Music Conference in Miami at club Onda. The introduction to this exciting music label was a welcome one and later released Freezeland which can be bought on Beatport, one of the world's largest online mp3 stores for DJs. She still works with a variety of artists from the Reticent label group, so please stay tuned for releases TBA. In 2005, Gio decided to move back to her roots in Boston and get more comfortable with her own style of music by relaxing her musical focus and tapping into her mellow vibe. Meeting up with her old friend, Kris Smith, only seemed natural. It didn't take long after her return for these two to link back together and collaborate on something that has turned out to be a product of both angst and beauty. We enjoy working with other local musicians to help create a vision of intense and eclectic rock and look forward to growing new experiences through these next several months. Please enjoy our work as this was a long time coming....
