JORDAN KNIGHT PERFORMING LIVE ON JUNE 10TH

About Me

A 31 year old native of Miami, Florida, Whilly Bermudez is the proud son of Cuban immigrants and one of six siblings. He learned early on the value of hard work, determination, responsibility, and initiative. Internalizing these values, Whilly became the founder of several successful entrepreneurial ventures, the most notable of these Whilly Bermudez Entertainment--a company that has produced concert events and other productions since 1993.
Later on, Whilly branched out and started The Union Group-a networking and events managing company that caters to the needs of young professionals from diverse career paths, and Live Colors Media, a Miami-based print advertising company.
In addition to becoming a leader in the Miami-Dade business community, Whilly feels passionately about the need to improve the community one lives in as well and to be civically responsible. To this end, he has organized and participated in fund raisers and toy drives for various worthy organizations such as the Children's Home Society, St. Judes’ Hospitals, and the American Cancer Society.
Whilly became interested in politics in the early 1990's and has volunteered his time and energy to the political campaigns of those he felt would improve the community both on a local and national level. He gained experience assembling young voters during the last two presidential campaigns and in learning about the intricacies of running for public office.
Whilly feels that today, he can best serve his community in the capacity of District 11 County Commissioner. Besides his sharp business acumen and extensive experience in brokering deals and in negotiations, he brings an understanding of the needs of his community and a fresh perspective about how to best meet these needs.

My Interests

WHILLY’S CORE VALUES - Whilly is driven by a set of values that support him in all his endeavors:
Whilly believes that hard work and personal accountability are integral to success in life and in business
Being from a large family has fostered the importance Whilly places on family values, and his appreciation for the support that family provides
Whilly believes that the government should work hard for the people, not the other way around. High tax burdens that hurt ordinary people are egregious, unnecessary, and unacceptable when other alternatives are available
Whilly values civic responsibility and community involvement; this is why he participates in the political process and why he is running for County Commissioner today

Fellow Young People,

One of my primary reasons for running for public office is to fill a void in politics. The void I'm speaking about is young people. Our generation is a bright one. Where technological intellect is among our most basic common skill, Much more higher than the generation before us. As young people, we take very little interest in voting, and so we pay little attention to the important decisions being made for us. A lot of our community's, states, and countries laws that affect us and our finances, were imposed upon you without your knowledge. This only happens when we choose not to choose. We should grasp awareness to the basic issues that directly or indirectly affect us all. I cant tell you how very important, your vote really is...to local government and beyond.

Getting our generation to vote is only the beginning. Getting young people to actually consider running for office is another story. There is a monumental stereotype that exists among many. Many people only associate elected officials with a certain / older age group, someone that has a law degree or is a former law enforcement officer, married with a few children. This is a huge misconception of those who believe that being qualified to make a difference requires any of that criteria. Bright business minds with the good hearts and great ideas are usually absent from the ballot sheet. And bright business minds is what the main criteria should actually be. I believe that a body of government should consist of a few lawyers, a few law enforcement persons, and the rest should be business people. Perhaps, the owner of the local hardware store has a great sense for creating revenue programs, however me may be overlooked as a political candidate because he doesn't fit the stereotype that exists.

I would like to be the lighting rod that encourages young bright minds to be motivated about influencing the factors that affect us all. I would like to become the next District 11 County Commissioner and the youngest commissioner on the Miami Dade County Board of Commissioners. After that, I would like the new standard for political elections to be all about ability and desire to positively change the world.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!
