We are from Florida. Florida was discovered by Ponce de Leon sometime between 1513 and 1521. He named Florida "Pascua de Florida" (feast of flowers) after a Spanish Easter holiday. He landed here on Easter Sunday.

1. Florida entered the Union on March 3, 1845, as the 27th state.
2. Florida ranks 23rd among the states in size, covering 59,928 square miles, including 4,683 square miles of inland water and 1,308 square miles of coastal water. It is sometimes called the Peninsula State.
