Wood Black

it's the wood black attack!!

About Me

Jamaica, Queens - New York...That's where I'm from. Illadelph, Pennsylvania is were I'm at.This is how Wood Black's story unfolds...My boy and business partner, KP lived 2 minutes from my house in Queens but I didn't meet him until I got to Philly....go figure. Anyway, this dude used to tell me EVERY time I ran into him that he was trying to start a music company. And every time, I'd be like, "Okay. I'm down". Time passed. Just talk. More time. More talk. Then....we got things going for real. Oh wait...I forgot to mention...I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MAKING MUSIC...but KP had faith and he showed me the ropes (LATE NIGHT SESSIONS and CHICKEN CUTLET HOAGIES - shout out to Village Pizza over at Drexel U!!). I started my schooling on a Boss DR-5 drum machine. Hours and hours of learning, not learning and sometimes, just staring. You should have seen me. I had an instructional video showing me how to lay a drum pattern. I followed that video but MY end result was NOT the same as the dude on the tape. I stood up...got the receipt...got the box...and told KP I was ready to go return it. He laughed and told me to stick with it...and I did.I've created some house, spoken word and hip hop beats with that bad boy. And through some trials and tribulations (Who am I kidding? I've gone through 3 computers...Mac and PC's, too many apps to count and alot of websites and music mags), I'm JUST starting to feel like I know what I'm doing. (Shout out to my partner in crime, Jay Tee of Nyte Train Productions for showing me as much as KP did. I learned alot when we were at 4628. Those jam sessions!)Fast forward to now...me and KP have Studio K Productions...and two releases under our belt...and two more coming sooner than you know. Look out for us...
