About Me

Derrick King ,is a native Texan.Born in the city of Dallas and raised on a military base in Ft. Hood, Texas. As a teen Derrick discovered is passion for music through Hiphop. Running around with some of the local rap crews on the scene at the time ; he was a regular attendee at various concerts and talent showcases around the area. In his early adulthood, he was bitten by the nightlife bug , and was a regular attendee of a wide array of venues around the Central Texas area. One of his main haunts was Austin’s famed 6th St. He recalls “ When I first set foot out there I was immediately intoxicated by the scene , thousands of people from all over just converged on this one strip. There were live bands from every genre music imaginable!” “ Going out as often as I did and having friends who were artists also gave me a chance to see things the inside out & that’s what peaked my interests in the industry.” Leaving Texas behind in the early fall of ’98, he ventured to the Baltimore – Washington, D.C. area. After settling there and observing and studying the nightlife and entertainment trends of those two areas; in the late spring of 2005, he collaborated with two other partners to form Three Minds Ent. LLC. Though success quickly followed the LLC, disbanded due to creative differences. After a brief hiatus Derrick King returned to scene again after creating another LLC , under the name The Derrick Charles Group (The DCG). Partnering with Whatcha-not-Hearin ,LLC as a nightlife & entertainment promotions consultant. Which led to him taking on the position as the Director of Marketing and Promotions. With the company it’s early stages , Derrick has his vision set high for things to come.ABOUT WNH (Whatcha Not HearinLLC) Our mission is to offer to the independent music artist a voice, while offering to the music listener a choice.
