Influences: In 1989 I was to be seeing dashing around flyers in hand promoting parties deep in the home counties & occasionally London. Original acid house girl who ditched her hood and dungarees for some glam house business whilst living in Leeds in the heady early 90's. Then went back South and got psychedelic during a deep, influential foray into psy-trance. I was Wax magazine's main psy-trance contributor and reviewer, I travelled to Zurich Love Parade with Blue Room, the first Boom Festivals, Total Elcipse's house in the French countryside (after a cancelled rave) - good journeys in more ways than one.
A new job in '96 amidst the realms of the original London jazz crew opened my eyes to new music and my days of listening exclusively to one genre were done and I began listening and writing about hip hop, the emerging asian urban fusion scene, latin, house, everything I could get my hands on.
I started promoting the UK breaks sound in 1998 when my company "ig-nite" focused on music/ youth PR & Marketing. That year, ig-nite started broadcasting fortnightly on one of the first London internetstations - GaiaLive and chiKa and assistants Carlos Fandango and Clive Tagsta (now of Tagsta Records) hostedbreaks DJs such as Freq Nasty, Adam Freeland, 10Sui, the late Vini Medley, Rennie Pilgrem and more, just as thescene was starting to rock. The show also featured renegade healer "Barefoot Doctor" - then an ignite PR client plusDJs as diverse as Pete Big Chill, Mark Pendragon, DJ Food, Scratch DJs and Freddy Fresh as well as live acts such asSelena Saliva, Mee and more. I started DJing latin and broken beats flava's in '97, bringing together my love of the urban with the Latin rhythmsthat rock in my genes.
I have played at numerous clubs round London, California and Switzerland as well as Reading Festival,Boom Festival (Portugal), Burning Man Festival (Nevada) and Earthdance, San Francisco. During a 3 year stint in SanFrancisco from 2000 - 2003 my DJing fully embraced the breaks sound that my friends had been producing backhome. Alongside homie Dov, I was the first to start a breaks weekly in SF - ig-nite SF. In SF I worked for now defunctrecord distribution company Eyephunk, and party organisation Earthdance, and through them also held down various
residencies.Since coming back to London in 2002 my DJing has ebbed and dipped in the energy I have given it. However 2007 has brought with it a renewed need to play my music. Electro seems to be inspiring me right now.
