About Me

Mach One is the speed at which sound waves travel through the air -thats about 760 miles per hour at sea level and 670 mph at 36 000 feet. (The figure varies as the square root of air temperature). OK so thats the science lesson over with...
Mach One is also the shadowy alias of David Reid, a Brighton based producer who quickly established a reputation with the brooding breakbeat assault of "Diablo". The track featured on the acclaimed SuperCharged mix album "Heavyweight Breaks" and won the support of many respected DJs including Tayo, Danny McMillan and Skool Of Thought. More recently it was used to soundtrack a gruesome murder scene in US crime drama CSI: Miamiwhich was er, nice.
Fast forward to 2005 and the trademark Mach One blend of deep atmospherics, dubby fx and driving beats caught the ear of breakbeat pioneer Danny McMillan (Uptown Connection / McMillan & Tab). He featured the guitar-driven Rip Chord on his recent Press (X) to Start album and signed it for release on P.A.C.K. Records Autumn 2006. The single is out now on 12" and MP3 and features a rather tasty tech-funk remix courtesy of Elite Force
"Rip Chord" has won airplay support from the likes of Jay Cunning at Kiss 100, Eddy Temple Morris at London's XFM and Tayo on BBC Radio One. It's also found it's way into the record boxes of Freeland, Dopamine, JDS and others...
