About Me

My musical training goes back as far as I can remember. I was singing in church from a very early age. My parents gave me a drum set for my 14th birthday because the piano lessons didn’t take. They would soon regret it, as I played them incessantly. They could be heard down the street—there was no escape. After high school, I marched at Auburn University for a year and then joined a bar band in Auburn and never looked back. That band was Passing Through, and Taylor Hicks was our lead singer. I played in other bands with Taylor (Fletch Lives, Taylor Hicks & the EZ Widerz, the Taylor Hicks Band) on and off through 2005, when he went to audition for American Idol. I also became the drummer for Spoonful James around 1998. The band’s style is blues/rhythm & blues/soul/country. We have shared the stage with many legendary acts, and Taylor still sits in with us from time to time. Spoonful currently books dates sporadically around the Southeast. For two years I played with a North Mississippi Hill Country Blues act called Tennessee Hat Co. that now goes by Sam Stone. We were finalists at the 20th International Blues Challenge in Memphis. I currently tour nationally with Little Dog Records recording artist Adam Hood of Opelika, AL. We regularly open for acts like Leon Russell, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Hicks all over the country.
