About Me

Sam Stone is a three-piece band from Nashville, Tennessee. We play music that is raw, primal, and from the heart. It's blues based, but don't expect any cookie-cutter "bluez". Our interpretation is our own. It's Southern. It's honest. It's what we believe in.Me and Aaron have been doing this thing for about 8 years now. We started out around 99' with a trio called The Southside Blues band. Humble beginnings. Then it was Black Steel Pony, (I spent a year in Minnesota trying to get things going), blindchild, The Cody Shipley Band, and most recently Tennessee Hat Company. With THC we competed in a Battle of the Blues Bands Competition in Birmingham, AL and won first place. We were asked to represent the Magic City Blues Society in The International Blues Competition in Memphis. Over 100 bands from around the world competed. We were honored to get to the finals and ended up with a 7th place slot. It seems our music was a bit too "rock" for the blues-nazi critics. We eventually starved ourselves out of Alabama and returned to Tennessee to take a little break from the music world. After two years of silence, we started Sam Stone. We've tried quite a few lineups and played with some great players who we admire and respect very much (Patrick Lunceford, Steven Gilmore, Jason Pettit, Justin Conn, Ryan Acree, Michael Grando). But we felt ourselves gravitating back to a three piece setup. We were introduced to Chad through a friend and started jamming. We finally found it. Now here we are. Sam Stone.
