About Me

Ozy is Örnólfur Thorlacius, from Reykjavik (Iceland), the most northern capital of the world. Through the years Örnólfur has been involved in numerous music projects in his home city, covering a diverse range of music styles. Örnólfur´s interest in minimal techno materialized in his Ozzy alias, under which he released among the first ventures of legendary Icelandic minimal dub-house label Thule Records, which sounded something like an upbeat version of Basic Channel, with a hint of the clicky sounds of Mike Ink. and Studio 1.In 2000 Ozzy became Ozy as he began shaping his musical style, now emphasizing on abstract minimal house music. Ozy's main objective, to create dance music with a certain pop appeal, using unorthodox sounds, twisting and bending them to incorporate new and unexpected aspects to his music. Hence constantly seeking new sounds and ideas, mostly from random generating music softwares, Ozy's fruity offbeat tech-funk swing and quirky rhythmic meanderings are the heart and soul of his compositions.Ozy's bi-polar taste in music is also featured in his live performances, either playing live robotic lounge funk or tearing up the floor with svelte minimal tec, keeping the audience on their toes. Armed with the latest audio manipulation softwares, an MPC and various midi controllers, every live set makes room for improvisation where his music is re-defined, often with surprising outcomes.Through the years Ozy's main output has been Thule Records in Iceland but in 2001 London techno pioneer Ben Sims put out an EP by Ozy called Dead of Night on Native Records (part of Theory Recordings), with the focal point of electronic take on tribalism, jazz and classic deep house music. Like with some of Ozy's earlier work the EP was considered by many to be fresh sounding and quite unique. In 2002 legendary German label Force Inc. released Ozy's debut album Tokei, placing Ozy within their impressive artist rooster that featured some of the most talented and famous electronic acts around. Recently, Ozy has started releasing on the great Trapez label in Cologne, music that could best be described as slinky, articulate tech house.Besides his own productions, Ozy has shown to have a talent for remixing, This can best be heard in his remix of Superman, a quirky rock ballade by crazy Icelandic pop band Trabant, with all its fruity bleep and blop sounds and cracked percussion, recorded while banging on various kitchen appliances.Furthermore, Ozy has done remixes for great bands and artists such as Apendics Shuffle, Gus Gus, Dj Daniel and Hansen (Trapez), Paravoice (from Mexico), and Midimiliz (aka Extrawelt). In addition, Ozy has been remixed by brilliant artists such as Someone Else (Foundsound, Musik Krause), Dominik Eulberg (Cocoon, Traum), Sanasol, and Break 3000 (Dirt Crew).Ozy has been performing at various clubs around Europe, including Studio 672 (the Kompakt club in Cologne), Sensor Club (Cologne), Moog Club (Barcelona), Tresor (Berlin), Bar 25 (Berlin) and numerous other venues in Berlin. He has also been a frequent guest at clubs in Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden), including a very special venue equipped with a multi-speaker system (32 speakers). Other countries include Australia, Japan, Mexico and Russia.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 ..
