I don't party like a rockstar... I AM a rockstar

About Me

WHO IS PJ BUTTA?
He is the hero to all musical artists who are looking to be the next superstar! The popular Los Angeles DJ, PJ Butta has worked his way up from a street team intern to one of LA's top radio personalities... becoming a major force in the music industry as an entrepreneur, educator and renowned taste maker.
However, PJ’s current success didn’t come without hustle and grind. While attending the University of La Verne, as a full time broadcast radio student, PJ put in long nights of work as an intern in hopes of getting the inside scoop about the music business. “I realized that radio stations are on twenty-four hours a day, so I decided to start my internship at one of them,” says Butta. In October 1993, he became an intern in the Promotions Department at KKBT -The Beat. In January of 1995, at the age of 22, PJ became the youngest on-air talent in Los Angeles, the number two radio market in the country. During his 11 years on the air, PJ became one of the highest rated personalites at the station and in LA.
PJ has earned the reputation as a record breaker and a star maker with his world famous Butta Bootlegs… a segment where new exclusive music is heard first from established and up-and-coming artists. Butta Bootlegs has played a major role in the exposure of Def Jam recording artist Bobby Valentino. PJ’s commitment to letting true talent be heard has pinned him as “discovery DJ”.
The undying popularity of PJ Butta and his Butta Bootlegs has reached millions of music fans worldwide through his syndicated urban countdown show, The World Chart and online at www.pjbutta.com... a music website that gives access to exclusive new music and promotes new upcoming artists. “While growing up in San Diego, I spent countless hours listening to the radio. I knew I loved the music, but had no clue my life would have this affect on so many people through this profession,” said PJ.
In addition, Butta has partnered with the Grammy winning Avila Brothers, who have produced music for artists such as Janet Jackson, Usher and Mary J. Blige, to create the AB Experience Music Group. Together they write and produce songs for upcoming projects and have started their own label, ABX Records. The company’s first release, The Mood: Soundsational through Universal by the Avila Brothers received astounding reviews.
Currently PJ Butta can be heard on KHHT - Hot 92.3 in Los Angeles. Aside from the website, songwriting and DJing at the hottest clubs worldwide, PJ Butta still finds time to pursue other interests. Not many DJ’s can claim ownership to a Cold Stone Creamery in Puerto Rico, take credit as an educator to hundreds of students at Mt. San Antonio College where he works as a Radio/TV professor, or say they’ve appeared on several television shows and national commercials. But out of all his many accomplishments PJ Butta is most proud of his marriage to Radio Personality, Nautica De La Cruz and being a daddy to his baby girl, Brooklyn.
